Hello,

Open /etc/windowmanager and replace jwm with xfce4-session
then open /root/.xinitrc and replace
if [ -f /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPan1 ];then
rox -p /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin -r /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPan1
else
rox -p /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin
fi
with
#if [ -f /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPan1 ];then
# rox -p /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin -r /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPan1
#else
# rox -p /root/Choices/ROX-Filer/PuppyPin
#fi[/size]
to disable rox pinboard. Reboot or restart X Server. javascript:emoticon(':)')

Thanks wxsin. :) Menus need a bit of re-organisation but everything tested so far works well.

LATER: A number of problems discovered - see below.

I have used the XFCE Desktop Environment on many Linux Distros, but I really liked XFCE on a Pup.
Simply the BEST, I might say.. So thumbs up :D

Keep it up 8)

by the way tested on Slacko 5.4, Slacko 5.3 & Precise

I'd love to give this a spin, but when I click on the link, dropbox says that no file exists.

The Xfce main run script should check if JWM is the current WM.
If it is, then the script should run the setup procedures described above.
This is how most Firefox setups that I`ve seen are done.

Running the app. should check if all is proper, and fix it if it`s not...

Hi Folks,

It would seem that since wxsin hasn't posted since Nov. 2nd ( I can't see from this text box when the last time was that he's edited his post - sorry! ) that he's either no longer monitoring this thread, no longer following Puppy development or - perhaps like what just recently happened to me in my case - has had computer problems and therefore can't reply to this thread. I hope it is not the last! My own example was definitely NO FUN! :(

At any rate, if you would still like a working and modern XFCE4-4.10 desktop .sfs then Jejy69 has been maintaining one which will work upon either Precise or Slacko Puppy and it may be found for download here: http://lxpup.weebly.com/xfce.html

I hope this info has helped someone out there.

Cheers/Amicalement,

XFCE the Best for me

Dont forget the old XFCE'. Newest are beautiful, oldest are pleasant. XFCE is a pleasure. I Dont like thunar, difficult to change, to copy from a directory to another one. I add EmelFM.
