I am trying to get a certain softmodem to work.

Puppy 528 doesnt even "find" it. but Slacko 543 does.

This is a Cricket Crosswave manuf by HUAWEI
Slacko gives it an:
init string 3 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0
Max speed = 9600
phone number #777
username 4125831102@cricket.com
pwd 5831102
found on port /dev/ttyUSB2
selected stupid mode and no auto reconnect.
tried it with and without Dialtone check, but most often with Dialtone Check

upon ATDT#777 I get
CONNECT
Carrier detected. Starting PPP immediately.
Starting ppd at Sat Jan 26 11:53
pid of pppd: 16679
Disconnecting at Sat Jan 26 11:54
The PPP daemon has died: A modem hung up the phone exit code 16
The link was terminated because the peer is not responding to echo requests.
Using Puppy Slacko 543 Opera
I can successfully get on the internet using Windows.
so this soft modem has been activated.
