In Lucid 528, the ath9k module claims to support your [168c:002d] device.

Run "lsmod". Is this module being loaded?

Then run "dmesg" and look for error messages.

There is some discussion about ath9k here.

Have you tried newer Puppies?

i cant see the ath9k module if you mean that. I'm newie here really.
i have to install it manually? if so, how can i do that?

before installing frisbee i was able to select the ath9k module when i press the connect button (with the original connect wizard), but now is frisbee instead the original wizard that show up.

when i could use the ath9k driver (whit the original wizard connect), puppy recognizes my pci wireless adapter, but when i ran the scan for search wireless connection, the wizard dont show any.

i dont try newer versions of puppy yet, because i have installed puppy-es passagio 531-02 , that is a spanish supported version of puppy. :)

I suppose you have used the ndiswrapper wizard which suggests to unload loaded wlan driver and you did that. So the ath9k was unloaded and ndiswrapper was loaded instead to use it with .inf file.

So....there should not be ath9k loaded. Simple.

true, that was what i do. but a can't do that now with frisbee (load and unload with ndiswrapper). When i'd loaded the windows drivers with Ndisgwrapper, the wizard wont recognize my pci wireless adapter with the uploaded drivers of windows (i'd tryed with all of them) and ath9k native driver recognize my card, but dont show any wireless connection.

I suggest you to do these tests with virgin base sfs without savefile, for example with pfix=ram boot parameter...and without loading ndiswrapper at all.

Getting the dmesg output for evaluation with ath9k loaded is first step to see what possibly goes wrong.

oks, this is what i have done. I've tryed with Precise Puppy version 5.4.3, clean started with a booteable usb. Internet wizard connect started automatically and i've selected "wlan0" with "ath9k" driver... ran the scan for wireless connection, nothing happens (dont show any wireless connection, same problem), then i'd opened the terminal and wrote dmesg and this is what i get (sorry for the large text):

ath9k loads and uses country code CN ie China.
ath: EEPROM regdomain: 0x809c
ath: EEPROM indicates we should expect a country code
ath: doing EEPROM country->regdmn map search
ath: country maps to regdmn code: 0x52
ath: Country alpha2 being used: CN
ath: Regpair used: 0x52
And then it fails with negotiation.
ath: Failed to stop TX DMA, queues=0x001!
ath: DMA failed to stop in 10 ms AR_CR=0x00000024 AR_DIAG_SW=0x42000020 DMADBG_7=0x00006040
If you are not from China, this might be the problem. Use the link provided by rcrsn51: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 965#562965

You probably need to use the manual route for entering your country code.

Use the method provided by that link.
Your country code need to be entered to the config file as numeric value.
Once you have installed the ath9k driver dotpet, use Geany to open /root/my-documents/ath9k-country-codes.txt
Find you country code, then calculate the final value and enter it to the config file as was suggested in that link. After that you need to reboot ie you need savefile.

Thanks for your answer pemasu.

well i did what you told me, with puppy-es pasaggio and the first time it works fine, the wizard showed my wireless connection, but doesn't connect because there is a problem with the WPA2-PSK encription. Then i'd installed puppy-es pasaggio again (clean start) and i'd reconfigure all the things step by step and now the first problem persist (wizard dont show any wireless connection). I'd tryed with precise puppy too, (fresh start, reconfigure all again and wizard dont show any wireless connection) i'm from Chile and my country use CL...

this is what dmesg show me now

ath9k loads now ok. It complains about your manual country code setting but seems to initialize the wireless chip.

I dont have a clue what to do next....except test the connection without wireless encryption...as test only. Some drivers have problems with certain encryption...but I am not expert with encryption problems.

thanks anyway for your time man.

Today, when i turned on this pc, and opened the wizard, it show me now my wireless connection but there is a WPA2-PSK encription issue I thought. Then i've rebooted the pc and opened the wizard again and there is no wireless connection available jajaja :?

then i do what you suggest, i'd turned off the wireless security of my router, reboot it and rebooted my pc... then i ran the scan for wireless connection, connect to it, and the wizard fails again (with no encription at all).

i'm about to give up, but i'm gonna still asking in the spanish forum for some solution, maybe i'm not to far away to solve it.

anyway, when the wizard show me my wireless connection (when i turned on the pc the first time today), show me this log text:

Hi there.
I have good news about this issue.
When a give up trying with puppy linux, i'd installed windows xp ( ) and the problem persist even in xp. So i thought that there is no a puppy problem, so i moved my wireless pci adapter to another pci slot and works fine in xp. So i uninstalled windows and installed puppy Linux instead and now my wireless connection works perfectly with ath9k native driver 8)

I'm happy now, thanks for your answers!!!

cheers

Happy ending is what we all like. You could add [Solved] to your first post header.
