I am uploading a test for default home page replacement for 4.2 ... maybe a link is better though so we get updates???

not sure where I would put zero install unless there is a pet package for it - then it would go in install - until then I will continue compiling my own programs with puppy and devx

Next footfall is to add sites from all of these lists of web apps while aggravating to break beneath 10 per class - may charge to breach some categories or add some new ones so we don't get any added "tails" (I assumption I've got it searching so abundant like a desktop humans overlook they accept annal bars)

Techno

I've just come across this and thought of your Web Desktop....

Hope you find it interesting as I think this could benefit Puppy/users in particular, and linux/users in general

http://wave.google.com/

Perhaps a team might come together for this?

I'll offer research/searching for any needs/plugging/... etc

I'm going to open a new thread for this

Very nice!

I seem to have a problem-- I didn't see it reported in a quick skim of this thread.

Using Seamonkey 1.1 14 on Puppy 4.1.2 std kernel, the mouse-overs obscure the choices..

The cursor doesn't show in this snapshot, but mouse overs look like this in my browser.

That is a function of the individual browser & I don't know a way of modifying that behavior other than turning it off (you can probably do it in the browser too). CSS maybe? If you have a suggestion I'd be willing to try it.

No, sorry Technosaurus, I don;t know how. But it's pretty minor for me, I just thought I'd mention it if you didn't know about it. I may be changing browsers soon anyway.

But a fine new presentation and idea. That's the main thing!

EDIT: Actually there is a potential simple workaround. You might shorten the descriptions. I noticed the short ones didn't interfere with the far menu when I was trying to do a screenshot. That's the one you really want to read.

Looks like 21 characters in the mouse-over would allow reading the menu in the above screenshot. "Collaborative Apps", or "Collaboration" maybe?

Opera 10.00, one done for Puppy, is incompatible with the drop downs menus They close down before the pointer can be moved to click on one. No problem on the same Thinkpad with the Puppy HTML viewer or with Seamonkey.

Thanks

Hi i see the puppy web desktop has been included in slacko build in app called cloud found in slickpet. what i want to know is in the past i have used PWD and i remember it created an account for me with my settings it seems to not do this now. is there a way to create an account so i can access the PWD from other os and puppy versions and have all my stuff saved again.

astonishing project, im fascinated that puppylinux offers a webbased desktop.

found it while searching for the right place to mention piratepad.net or piratepad.eu.
it supports import/export of html, plain text, word doc, odf and maybe pdf.
no registration required, it offers bold/uderline/italic and lists.
very good for collaborative writing, eg students or group-projects, but also basically formatted documents.

maybe something for the office/word processor sections.

another website-tool could be for imaging sections.
http://colorillo.com/
collaborative drawing, or single user drawing with no registration required. has a colorwheel, brushes different sizes, chat and a gallery.

When I first made it, it was just a hack collection of web apps and now a lot of the links have changed or gone dead. Because it is only a static web page with no server side scripting, it is a PITA to keep updated (every change needs to be made locally and then uploaded). l am currently taking a web applications class though and may be able to improve it significantly by adding cookies for persistence (like user selected desktop icons and links), user interaction and mashups (twitter, rotten tomatoes, various yahoo services etc...)

Any requests/recommendation for 2.0 are welcome.

I know there are others available but most of them are sluggishly slow, so I waste the extra time prematurely optimize everything for my own benefit (slow computers with slow internet)

thats not 2.0 but very useful: tiddlyspot.com
you can create your own online+desktop tiddlywiki there, or a getting things done tool.

another tool to make a webpage is sites.google.com
very prominent, but sometimes i dont think of the most well known possibilities.

for messengers sections maybe imo.im
