full install Puppy to 512mb Compact Flash

#1 Post by nubc »

Hi, I just came up with five 512mb Compact Flash drives, and I would like to full install a version of puppy on each drive. Can someone link me to a tutorial or thread(s) concerning installing Puppy to this type of drive. Any tips appreciated. Thanks

How do you plan to use these cards? With a USB reader? With an IDE adapter?

Two of my computers (and possibly a third) have a multi-card reader in lieu of floppy disc drive installed to the front of the computer. The onboard card reader is connected to USB pins on the motherboard. On both computers, one of the card inputs is for Compact Flash. I thought I had a USB multi-card reader around here somewhere, but I can't find it, only the packaging which said it was USB 1.1 anyway. So I will be looking for a USB 2.0 card reader. The 512-MB Compact Flash cards were manufactured in 2004.

You can't put a full install on a USB drive - only frugal.

Oh, that's disappointing. Would you mind explaining why, assuming that BIOS provides booting from USB drive?
