Has anyone tried to make a pup or pet file out of TED? I've had a look at it in my other distro but it keeps crashing when I try to get it to load a file or start a new one. |

Colonel, are you trying to run it on pup4? If so, as it needs gtk1, you need to follow the same procedure as mentioned here |

Hi I just uploaded abiword 1.0.2, Its not that same as regular abiwords, because it doesn't use any gnome files, this version was from the pre-gnome era, basically remove your old abiword and even Goffice and install it, it should run no problems and even has a USA dictionary included. 
It does your regular .doc and .rtf files also. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=31026 tell me how it went if you try it out, I know you've been looking for a bit for a word processor for your pc. TED 2.14 is in the official Puppy 2 and Puppy3 repositories. I use it in 214R and 301. (Well, I used to... now I'm using Dingo, Abiword will condescend to talk to my printer.) Gerry |

Bad news I'm afraid, it installed but won't load. I think there's some conflict with an earlier (or later) library. Is there some way of removing an old application, libraries etc. completely before installing a different version of the same? |

well one way of doing it is basically downloading abiword and goffice from http://www.puppylinux.ca/puppyfiles/pet_packages-3/ or if its series 2 http://www.puppylinux.ca/puppyfiles/pet_packages-2/ then change the pet packages to tgz by typing in a console in the same directory pet2tgz NameOfProgram.pet then extract it and find all the files and delete them. also a quicker way is renaming the pet 2 tgz like say abiword-2.0.pet after renamming would be abiword-2.0.tgz then extract it by click on it or you can find find on here petbegone and install that and get the 0pkg file from the above pet repo. hope this helps ttuuxxx _________________ http://audio.online-convert.com/ <-- excellent site http://samples.mplayerhq.hu/A-codecs/ <-- Codec Test Files http://html5games.com/ <-- excellent HTML5 games

Thanks for the info. I got rid of the old Abiword with petbegone and installed the 1.0.1 pet, which worked - once I copied over the GLIBC 2.4 files I had previously unpacked in my other distro. All's well that ends well anyway (and I've successfully loaded a 502 page text file into it!). Cheers, CP . |

Hi, rich text format word processor (as also .ps,.html,.svg, .pdf, etc...except .doc) latest version 2.23 available !!! debian and rpm archive available as also various locales. http://www.nllgg.nl/Ted/ enjoy
