Gedit in Slacko?

#1 Post by JamesTheAwesomeDude »

When I first got started with Linux, I used Ubuntu, and now Gedit is my absolute favorite text editor. I know that Geany really isn't that bad, but I'd really, really like it if I could get Gedit in Slacko 5.4.

I know that there's a source-code download available from the official site, but I can never, ever, ever manage to get other peoples' code compiled. I know that it's possible, but I have only compiled one source package in my life, and that was probably more frustrating than the time I gave my windows partition a rootkit.

Long story short, I need a Gedit 3.2.6 dotpet that's slacko-compatible. I don't care whether it includes all the libraries, if it auto-installs them as Dependencies, or if they're in a separate dotpet; as long as it works, I'm happy.

Gedit's a Gnome thing. Gnome = MEGA libs. There's a 3.2.6 binary here.

By the time you ldd your way through those deps, she'll top 200mb's.

Then, I'm sure you'd be :D Happy!

Nah, I hate rounding up libraries. I was just thankful for the warning.
