Slow editing in Geany Subject description: Compared to 5.3.3 Geany seems much slower in Slacko 5.4 |
|
Running Slacko 5.4 from USB.
I find that editing in Geany is very much slower than Slacko 5.3.3. Running Top shows X using up to 70% CPU when using cursor keys, backspace etc. Is there some property I can tweak to speed things up please.

Are you using some extra plugins?
Wondering if you get the same speed results if you launch geany like this (from a terminal):
Are you using another or custom color definitions?

GustavoYz thanks for taking the time to reply.
Running from console makes no noticeable difference.
I'm not running any plugins.
I've not chnged any colour settings other than the desktop theme.

Geany has a couple of weird errors when displaying long lines of code, and it will eat your CPU if scroll down or up when reading those.
I've experimented without using any aditional feature, opening a 50MB txt file, and still... scroll eats the 30-50% of 2/3 cores of an i3.
In normal situations, wont be much problem, but if it is for you, may try install another version.

Downloaded and tried Version 0.20. Problem is still the same. I am beginning to think that my hardware is just not up to running Slacko 5.4. For the moment I am going to revert to 5.3.3 which works fine for me.
Many thanks for your suggestions.
