Subject description: Puppy 1 and below

Hi, i have posted a topic in the misc section of the forum, but i thought i would link it here as it is a project of sorts. With various puppy sites going down for e.g. puppylinux.ca, the very old puppy versions are no longer able to be found.

So i would like people to root ...erm, sorry, sudo root around in there puppy collections looking for ancient puppy treasure (puppy1.0.3 is the earliest so far) .They are an important part of puppy's history, and i think that's there's a need to preserve them, and also make them available to people.

If you can, please contribute....... here's the link http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=65544

thanks

I frecuently wonder why after using the latest puppy versions, I never stop using the 4.1.2.
That happens because when I use old machines with few resources, that's the only puppy that runs giving no excuses. Or at least is the one that gives less excuses.
So I don't think it's bad idea to seek for those puplets and puppies that kept forgoten in the past. And 2.14 's Biles one is THE one i use, isn't that amazing?

Very Happy Hello,
Agreed... 4.12 was the best all around, video card and sound card finding, GL rendering, program installing Puppy.. That why 2 of my Pups are based on the 4.12 base...
I have most of the Pups from 1.08 on.. If you are missing anything???

4.12 was splendid back in it's day, and still is superb today.
What puplet would you suggest that is as close to standard Puppy as possible, but updates 4.12 and offers a few new things. Basically a modern 4.12?

I got a desktop from my twin brother I am thinking of turning into a semi-dedicated Puppy box.

I haven't had a dedicated Linux Desktop since probably around early 2009 Wink .

I know I downloaded and saved a bunch of old ones to CDs. I"ll have a look.

OKay, so where is this archive going to be set up / stored? It's gong to look like a Puppy Museum.

I'd love to see them all together in one place and, if possible, mirrored in more than one location. I think this has been tried before, without too much success. Is it time to make it work?

Let's find out
Sully
