Yeah, just encrypting the save file would be fine.
What I want to know is if it would it be possible to use Truecrypt's immensely powerful encryption (as opposed to Puppy's encryption) to protect the save file.
I'm just beginning to get an idea... perhaps install a cli-only version of TC into the initrd.gz file, then add a command to the init script to decrypt the encrypted files... not quite sure if this would work, or how exactly to pull it off... I found them after looking through the Security section of the forum for about one minute.
I'm pretty sure there are other threads that discuss how to encrypt a Save file, but I didn't see any. Try the How-To section.
