Mouse/Keyboard Wizard Doesn't Change Keyboard Language

#1 Post by Gnuxo »

I have both macpup and puppy precise 5.4.3 installed on a 64 bit laptop. And I've been trying to get a scheme in place to switch from english to russian.

I've tried the mouse/keyboard wizard and have added the russian language to my list of supported locales but when I put *set xkbmap ru* in terminal, nothing happens.

The layouts won't change no matter what I do.

Is there something wrong?

Can anyone help?

Have you tried the setxkbmap command without any spaces inside? It should work but Russian letters won't be very suitable for typing setxkbmap us to switch the layouts back.
It is possible to choose a keyboard shortcut for this task. On Lupu (and hopefully on Precise): xkbconfigmanager - Options - Group Shift/Lock behavior.
Or you might find this gui program useful: fbxkb (a thread in this forum)
