I tried to use the remaster program but it force me to use CD/DVD
why can one not save the iso on the HD and then reuse it as one do
with any puppy? It says it needs files that are on the CD but I will not
use a CD or DVD I will reuse the initrd and vmlinuz and the sfs file.

Just tried vlc-2.0.5 from PPM, grabbed the deps and working fine
Artstown
Did this occur in pups before Barry did all the UDF support about a month ago? If so, please report on one of Barry's threads, he hasn't visited this one.
Billtoo,
Odd about KDE games. if you try it again, try and save any "deps" files in /tmp so I can look at the tree.
And about tempicon, my son has an i5, I'll give my stick a run on it and see if I cant get support built in. Thx.
SFR,
That's an odd one! I'll test it out and if I can reproduce I'll replace the binary in woof and inform BK. So far no response from him on the "BUG", surely he knows about it, I have peppered his blog with references. Well, I guess the important thing is that we have it covered .
James
gz? Pretty good if so.

If that fails then it's a bug.. we'll see.

Ok tlchost, looks like qt isn't there or isn't initialised. Sometimes it requires a reboot.. is the qt-opensource package definitely there? You can check by opening PPM, click the uninstall button.

Very odd....the menu entry doesn't make it run, the vlc.desktop doesn;t make it run, yet if I go into terminal, type vlc, it comes up with the error I posted....and yes, it does play internet stream/
qt-opensource package there
Will try reboot

Thanks...reboot fixed it.
BTW, the get_libreoffice works fine on usb, and now the boot manager selects sfs files ok.
Thanks....

KDE-Games works for me this time, despite I have the same error msgs as Billtoo's.
__________
About splash-screen issue: the broken characters are different in each distro - I figured out it may depend on...splash image!
To ensure I took logo.16 from Precise and injected it into Slacko's iso...and indeed (screenshot).
Anyway, it's the funniest bug so far.

Exactly - and if the BUG will pop up again somewhere, sometime - we have the cure.
Greetings!

Yes, KDE is an odd one. It may be an issue of carefully checking deps as some are listed twice from salix and slacky, however curious it worked fine in 5.4.0.4.. PPM can have some odd behaviour.

Did you replace isolinux with lupu version at all for that test? I think that's what I'll do as it is really a showstopper for Noobs.. and remember, Slacko is for new and experienced users .

Nope, I left the original one.
But just tested and isolinux.bin from Lupu also works ok with that image from Precise.
EDIT:
The one from Lupu is simply later version.
hexdump -C isolinux.bin (Slacko):

BTW: there's also /usr/lib/syslinux/isolinux.bin - is this file utilized while remastering, or the one from ISO..?

Testing on Merlin, Pentium D 3.4GHz. Booted pfix=ram and created new save on NTFS HDD. Working fine after reboot. Too early to comment on stability of wireless on WN111V2 but looking promising so far. Intensive use testing somewhat hampered by Dad making a number of calls on the upstairs phone, which knocks out the broadband for some reason.
Not particularly happy with replacement of Opera with Firefox.
Newest version of Pidgin in PPM is 2.10.6. After installing it, Updates Manager offers 2.10.7. After installing that, the Uninstall window in PPM lists both 2.10.6 and 2.10.7 - what runs from the Menu is the latter.
There is an entry for Slypheed in both the Network and Internet section of the Menu. Gnumeric is in both Business and Personal. Geany is in Utility but not Document.
Latest version of Gparted is 0.14.1 (http://gparted.org).
You may wish to rethink the colours for the OS version popup launched by clicking the storage icon on the bottom right. See attached grab.
More testing later.

SFS Load appears to have stopped stiffing my machine when unloading SFS files.

Hello Jades,
Thanks for reports
I have already addressed the colours issue with the splash, it's an intermittent bug in ziggy's gtkdialog-splash script. How's black text on white?
Barry's new "categories.dat" has made a mess of the menus and forced me to revert jwm_menu_create, which I didn't like. I have been sorting it out.
Sorry about Opera, but it's too buggy. I would have liked to keep it but the extra weigt of Firefox V the bugs in Opera made Firefox the winner. Plus Opera is in a transitional phase and won't likely be doing any bugfixes for some time.
As for wireless, there has been a discovery that turning power management off, improves stability, I think pemasu discovered it, try a search for his posts if you have issues.
