no wifi on Lenovo G580 laptop [solved]

#1 Post by vinoman »

I ran Racy and Slacko 5.5 and it connects to wifi with older laptops, but my new Lenovo G580 laptop does not connect. Why can't Puppy see the wifi? Is it too new a laptop to use with Puppy? I've connected with Mint, Ubuntu, Porteus and they all connected to wifi via live CD.

What does Puppy need to connect?

It looks to me like Slacko 55 should have the right stuff to use this wifi.

Run "lspci -k". Has your adapter been loaded? Which kernel module is it using?

Check "dmesg" for error messages related to wifi.

Is your problem with wifi detection or connection?

I just ran Slacko 5.5 again and this time it worked! I don't know what the problem was the first time but it's online now.

Puppy is a great distro. I made a friend yesterday very happy. :)
