Python2.7 has been splitted up into more packages as before. Previously python2.7 deb had the python modules needed for basic usage.

Now...they have been stripped out and placed to the package libpython2.7-stdlib.

I believe that splitting of python packages tries to resemble the complex modularity of python itself.

Python now launches. If you want to do something with it, install
libpython2.7-stdlib with PPM.

Then you can test for example bleachbit. I trash my savefile though after hunting the right package where they did hid the functionality of Python.

Hi Ted Dog,
It's going a bit slower than planned. Won't happen overnight, I guess. Sure, I will upload it. Mine is eeepc1000 (n270/945gme/atheros/ralink).

x.x.x.1 runs fine on everything here. Managed to d/l Hardinfo and run it from console; the version mick uses in his slacko control panel is more comprehensive but not sure whether it ports? Everything is fast and stable. Should fly with Opera. How close do you estimate you are to an RC? Don't usually trial FULL until an RC arrives; easier to add any pertinent fixes at that point.

Sage. I let 3.8.4.1 rest over Easter. What this build need, is testing, using, installing apps and finding missing or non-working things.
The feedback tells what it will need. I will fix and add what I and testers find.

It looks good so far. Calm before storm maybe.

Billtoo. Symlinking existing libtiff.so.5 might work also. Like:
ln -s /usr/lib/libtiff.so.5 /usr/lib/libtiff.so.4
For compiling you probably need real stuff.

Pemasu, the desktop icon switcher offers no options. Blue Moon is
one set that gets my vote.

aarf is still reporting crashes of AUFS with sfs_load, but it is of course with 3.8.4, so we await his reports on the new version, but something interesting in the aufs-utils README...
Makefile in this tree has some customizable make-variables.
- CPPFLAGS
specify the include path if necessary.
Some of linux kernel header files are necessary including
linux/aufs_type.h. If you have installed kernel header files to
/usr/include, then you may not need to specify CPPFLAGS.
Otherwise you need to do something like this sample.
+ run "make headers_install" in your kernel source tree, and
$LinuxSrc/usr/include is created and header files are installed
there by default.
+ if you build aufs3 as module from aufs3-standalone.git, then
$AufsStdalone/usr/include is created and header files are
installed there.
+ and specify
CPPFLAGS="-I $LinuxSrc/usr/include -I $AufsStdalone/usr/include"
Note that your distribution may contain an obsoleted version of
aufs_type.h in /usr/include/linux or something. When you build aufs
utilities, make sure that your compiler refers the correct aufs header
file which is built by "make headers_install."
Ok, that may not mean much, but I did notice I had to fix the kernel compile script for 3.8x kernels because of AUFS, Sooooo did something change a little? Do we need new Aufs-utils with each kernel branch?

I am compiling a 3.8.4 and will test a build with aufs-utils compiled against 3.8.4 kernel headers to see if shino's sfs_load works standard.

EDIT: yes, seems to work. Compiled against 3.8.4 headers aufs-utils from git and shino's sfs_load works as standard. So, moral to this story is that aufs-utils is kernel dependant!!!

This is a cosmetic thing that does not create any problems

in /usr/lib Seamonkey folder is labeled 2.15.2.
When you open Seamonkey browser it gives version as 2.16.2
Fyi

Abiword and Gnumeric working for me - no problems with these two apps

You wanted updates on installing programs:
I installed vlc from ppm and it works fine.
Downloaded and installed Google-Chrome stable - works fine.
Compiled gtk+-3.4.4.tar.xz,audacious-3.3.4.tar.bz2,and
audacious-plugins-3.3.4.tar.bz2,my Elvis cd plays with the extra stero
effect, nice.

Thanks guys. I add couple of other desktop icons to the next build.

01micko. Thanks of your aufs3-util testing. I should have recent aufs3-util, in fact called as aufs3 in my package list. I compiled it in Upup Precise with 3.8.3 kernel version.

So....I will compile it again in this build. It will be in next build. And I can upload it as pet also.
Now....I will be a little busy couple of days. Due to Easter vacation. I should have 3g modem connection available, but no distro uploads during that time.

Just checked in shop. Angry Birds Easter chocolate eggs were most expensive when you checked the kg/prize. Hooray. Finns know how to charge.

I've found that my AMD ATHLON 2650e needs the CPUfrequency
scaling utility to be run every bootup, according to the tempicon in
the tray it's off at the start of each new session.

Installed pwidgets 2.4.1... analog clock will not appear on desktop!

Other than that... so far looking pretty nice.

Anyone interested in having the Blue Moon icon set added can
install this pet:
http://puppylin.freehostia.com/iconsbmoon.htm

It will then appear as a option when using desktop icon switcher.

Majorfoo, there is nothing unusual about the seamonkey folder
name. It probably just means that pemasu started with 2.15.2
and then updated, choosing to retain the existing symlinks.

Billtoo. You can check if you have cpu scaling governor installed in console:
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_driver
and
cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor

and also when you launch from menu > system status and config > system > cpu frequency scaling tool, you should see on the first page, if you have driver installed and what kernel module scaling driver it uses.
Anyway...amd cpu might need that you run that "cpu frequency scaling tool" through. It should remember your settings at next boot.

Okay. I gave a go for aufs3-util. I noticed that I had wrong kernel headers installed. The aufs3-util headers check during compiling told me that. How come ? I surely had right kernel headers pet installed. Okay....hunting.....
Yay....there was also Ubuntu Raring Ringtail headers.

yes|linux-header|linux-libc-dev|exe>dev,dev,doc,nls
###yes|linux_headers|linux_headers-3.8.0*|exe>dev,dev,doc,nls|pet:
yes|kernel_headers||exe>dev,dev,doc,nls

My mistake. I should have disabled that Ubuntu one also when I disabled Barrys used kernel headers package.

Okay...one bug found. I change the naming of my package, remove the ubuntu headers package, it is absolutely not wanted.

no|linux-header|linux-libc-dev|exe>dev,dev,doc,nls
yes|linux_headers|linux_headers-3.8.4*|exe>dev,dev,doc,nls|pet:

Here is aufs3-util compiled against kernel headers from my kernel-3.8.4 using kernel sources of the same.

http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/Misc/auf ... -3.8.4.pet

You can test if it makes any difference with sfs_load unload property. I havent had system crashes ever with it, so I am not much of tester myself.
Reboot will be required if you test this pet with sfs_load unload function.

I get this on booting, I guess tempicon is fibbing.

Billtoo. Tempicon just seems to check if "ondemand" governor has been activated. It does not check what governor is in use and inform that one.
