HD Install Puppy without cd-rom

#1 Post by Giorgio »

Hi everybody,
I'm a newbie with a little problem with my old notebook with Win2k, a fat partiton and no cd-rom drive.
I'm running puppy 1.0.3 from hd as descripted here.
Now I'd like to have a real puppy installation in a new ext2 partition already created.
I tried to run "HD Install" script, but it doesn't work, because it looks for puppy cd in the drive.
Any idea?
Thanks

I'm pretty sure I've seen this question before in the forum. Try using the forum search at the top of the page, or just looking through the threads in the Beginners and Users categories.

Edit: check this thread: http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?p=6537#6537

Mhm ...
Are you sure this is a "real" hd installation?
I need to have GRUB to switch between Win2k and Puppy, and I want Puppy on an already prepared ext2 partition.
I tried to run the script for HD install, but it doesn't work because in STEP3 it look for Puppy cd in the cd-drive!
Is there a way to have Puppy installed just like I have had a cd-rom drive?
Thanks in advance

Well, no. I haven't tried it because I run from the CD, and only save to the pup001 file on the hard drive. Sorry. Maybe someone else who knows more than I do will come along and help. :)
