I've uploaded a new delta for testing that can be downloaded from here. Download the change-log file to follow the changes that have been made as they happen.

It should be at: /lib/modules/all-firmware/iwlwifi/lib/firmware/iwlwifi
.
I apologize that I didn't get to this in this test delta version, but I will in the next.

If anyone would like to try these delta snapshots and need help creating an ISO from a delta file, Geoffrey has a nice tutorial that can be found here.

Elroy,
Leave that as it was, that is with the ucode in /lib/modules/all-firmware/iwlwifi/lib/firmware.
On reboot, I lost wireless with the additional directory there (analogous with other mfgs modules). Subsequent reboots seem ok now. I have no Idea why that first boot couldn't find the required module and creating that dir brought it up immediately. Something in the search process maybe. Anyway leave it as it was in the 006 iso. Everything else fine so far, with or without adrive (I don't use clementine so haven't updated that). Tweaking governors and setting this laptop up for the ultimate test, my windowcentric wife and her civil war book/multimedia download and search needs. It'll be interesting!
Pups currently in kennel :D Older LxPupSc and X-slacko-4.4 for my users; LxPupSc, LxPupSc64 and upupEF for me. All good pups indeed, and all running savefiles for look'n'feel only. Browsers, etc. solely from SFS.

There is a new delta-test version available for those interested. See a couple posts previous for the link.

We've found a solution for Firefox/Thunderbird, and they have been re-included to replace Seamonkey.

Had some problems with Flash in Opera yesterday. What's new?! Not mission critical till Final, too busy for a few days to investigate.

There is a WiFi card D-link DWA-525 revA2, tried to connect it.
Modules working in the system for it is not (or at work or on the patched version rt2800pci rt2860sta).
Ndiswrapper does not work, the problem has moved from the Saluki.

I did compile Ndiswrapper for Saluki some time ago, never got a report back to confirm if it was ok or not. http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 261#615261

I just compiled the latest Ndiswrapper for Carolina kernel-3.2.13-ski, can you try this, if it works I'll add it to the repo

As for the rt2800pci rt2860sta I have the same problem with my wireless usb dongle, it did work at one point but was hit and miss a lot of the time, if someone with more nohow than me could sort the problem out it would be appreciated, I was only saying the other day to Elroy about it not working and decided to leave it unless someone mentions it  I should of kept my mouth shut

Cheers all

Honestly - I'm not going to enjoy Carolina, too "fat" she began.
The new module has experienced - and this result ndiswrapper does not work, gives the same message.
I have this D-link earned Lupu 5.2.0 - Lupu 5.2.8 on ndiswrapper, and raring-3.8.4.2-SCSI on standard modules.
At first I tried to get work under precise-5.4.3, but it does not work and ndiswrapper modules old. Helped case, the compiled package (source code http://linuxwireless.org/download/compa ... 18.tar.bz2) called "compat-wireless-2012-12-18 -i486 "solved the problem of standard modules rt2800pci, and D-link worked.
Compiled Carolina I can not, no kernel headers, try for yourself.

GMA3600

#668 Post by jtouso »

As Saluki is in stand-by...I try Carolina 0.0.6rc
But same problem than Saluki: GMA3600 problems...monitor resolution no more than 800x600
May you have a pet or other form to works with this Intel GMA3600 graphic chipset?
I read in Puppy forum a solution from Tormentouos with a pet archive but it is not working for me

Hello Every One:
I want some information regarding the setting of SAMBA in Carolina to achieve the following:
1: I want to access windows shares from carolina using pcman file manager. I tried YASSM and pnethood from the repos but unable to access the windows shares from pcman file manager (also installed gvfs-smb but no success)
2: I want to share the stuff in carolina on LAN (Did this in Lucid/Fatslako with the Samba Simple Management Tool),
Thanks in advance.
Regards

I use gvfs-smb with thunar and it works great. I just tried with pcmanfm and it also worked without problems. Gvfs-smb needs x restarted to work.

hi rg66:
Thanks for the reply:
I was trying the gvf-smb without restarting the X window :). Working nicely now. What about the sharing data from carolina system? I edited the smb.conf file to share the my-documents data but not working for me. How I share the date from carolina and can check the status of SAMBA whether its running or not? Any Idea????

I believe Carolina only comes with samba client so you have to download samba server from the repo.

@ rg66:
I already install samba from the repos.
But really dont have any idea how to configure it in puppy linux. I did this in ubuntu 12.04 but the commands are slightly different in puppy. It would have a better idea If someone make a samba GUI called "Samba Simple Management Tool" (which is preinstalled in FAT/PHAT Slako and in Lucid Plus) for Carolina.
Thnx

samba configuration

#674 Post by don570 »

Here's a web page to quickly setup samba.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=60981

Note that to change samba configuration file, samba must be stopped.
Then it is restarted after modifying the configuration file.
The man page gives the various commands.

-modifying configuration file
It is found at /etc/opt/samba/smb.conf or /etc/samba/smb.conf
Here's an example of how to fill it out.

hi Don570:
Thnx for reply.
I know that I have to stop samba before the changing in smb.conf file. I removed the samba from package manager, restarted the system and installed the fresh samba from the repos. Edited the smb.conf file. but when I execute the "testparm" the result shows like that posting the screenshot). Never saw this error before. Any Idea ??

shinobar samba packages

#676 Post by don570 »

In puppy linux the configuration file isn't located in
/usr/lib/smb.conf so the message is correct!!!! Don't blame the
messager

testparm is part of the samba package so you've installed a samba
package.

(By the way it's been several years since I used samba and it
was to connect linux to an old mac computer)

I would check the 2 samba pet packages that Jemimah stored

HERE

I assume it's the same as in the carolina repository??

In desperation I would install a shinobar samba package since he
is a real expert in windows computers.

Shinobar wrote about samba --->
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=60836

He made them for Wary and Lucid puppy though.
Carolina lacks some dependencies which makes it difficult
to install some apps.

Also there is samba-tng

I already checked these links before, I can install and configure SAMBA in lucid/slako and other puppies but I was searching to do that in carolina too. I already sent a message to gcmatin and will sent to rcrsn51 too.
I am sure he will have the solution.
Anyhow thnx for the replies and I will post the result as and when I solved that.

I tested the Samba-TNG server in Carolina and it worked fine. It took about 30 seconds to set up.
