I wait what happens with xorgwizard. And I am also very busy with other things atm.
Ubuntu Raring Ringtail has now been released so that is not problem. Of course there will be updates but core packages are about there now.

For testing new xorgwizard and xorgwizard-cli, I woofed 3.8.7 kernel Upup Raring.
It has jwm-733. Also pup-volume-monitor and suitable libgio are included. I did use Ubuntu Raring Ringtail packages of today ie fresh downloads.
I think this build could be usable for testing new kernel, new xorgwizard, and newest jwm. Also release status ubuntu packages have been used.
I might still update the kernel which is now in version 3.8.10.
But....some feedback of the new xorgwizard in this build would be useful.
If you get non usable /etc/X11/xorg.conf, you can exit to prompt state, type: rm /etc/X11/xorg.conf and the launch X with: xwin ....and the automatic xorg.conf will be created, it is suitable for most situations by automatic creation. I usually dont need xorgwizard usage.

Hi pemasu
Quick report on testing so far.....
Booted up as expected on my HP550 laptop.
Have done some testing of pup-volume-monitor using pcmanfm - works as expected for real devices including usb sticks - also for mounting Samba shares and ftp shares....
What doesn't seem to work is filemnt of .iso / .sfs / .2fs files - they are mounted but the mount is not detected by p-v-m and so not displayed by pcmanfm
This is different to p-v-m0.1.13 + pcmanfm on Slacko 5.5.
Will try to do some more testing....
But looking good - congrats
Cheers

Xorgwizard-cli missed support for touchpad. Barry Kauler added support for it.
For me the synaptics and Flsynclient started to work after using this updated version.

I'm running from the live dvd with a savefile on an external hard

I installed VLC-2.0.6 with ppm, at first vlc had sound but no picture
but after I ran xorgwizard and chose the intel driver it's working.
One choice that I made (forget which intel driver) worked too but not
well.
Anyways, it's working well now.
EDIT: I thought it was working okay but it's not, this is the video
info from PhatSlacko which works well on this pc:
X Server: Xorg Driver: intel
X.Org version: 1.12.3
dimensions: 1920x1080 pixels (507x285 millimeters)

Core 0: @1200 1: @1200 2: @1200 3: @1200 MHz
Anyhow, I'll use PhatSlacko on this one and Upup Raring on something
else.

Upup Raring 3.8.7 live pfix=ram on the trusty Athlon XP box..... quick test before installing.Display, sound and internet all working and correct on initial boot. Have the dreaded faded and missing icons but assume that nouveau.noaccel=1 will take care of it when I install.
First time I launched SeaMonkey it crashed........ launched from the terminal to see any possible error messages and now it will not crash..... naturally.I did get this little error message upon launching but SeaMonkey is working.
Code: | # seamonkey

Running synchronized to the vertical refresh. The framerate should be
approximately the same as the monitor refresh rate.
288 frames in 5.0 seconds = 57.499 FPS
300 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.902 FPS
299 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.700 FPS
300 frames in 5.0 seconds = 59.898 FPS
Guess I'll go ahead and do a quick frugal install.

This error message has been in Upup Raring in earlier versions also. Hunting the error message in net, it looks like it is focused on mozilla browsers and Thunderbird also.
Firefox-20 produces it also. There have been samekind error reports from Ubuntu Raring users also. Updating Seamonkey to the latest does not help. It looks like there isnt anything I can do than wait and check solutions....when there is those.
Chromium does not create that error message.

When playing with Ubuntu Raring Chromium and Puppy Package manager ie PPM, I edited /usr/local/petget/hacks-postinstall.sh to support Chromium with PPM from Ubuntu Raring repo.
I also added support for iron.deb from the SRWare Iron page:
http://www.srware.net/downloads/iron.deb
After installing the pet, you can download Chromium from Ubuntu repo with PPM and also iron.deb from srware iron download link should work.

Pemasu, Raring 3.8.7 is looking good here but I thought I'd report that
I'm still experiencing the old wireless bug. Presumably, this (kernel)
bug affects Ubuntu and other popular Linux distros, so I'm amazed that
it hasn't yet been fixed. I refer here, of course, to the power
management bug that affects some wireless hardware such as my
Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter Model WMP54G using the RT2500
driver.
