Remove_builtin: buttons translation + Xdialog.mo... [SOLVED]

#1 Post by Bert »

Situation:

Image

It looks like the two buttons have no localisation entry in the .po.
Is there something we can do?

It's not that important, but it would be nice to get this 100% translated.

Thanks!

Translated here. You need files: gtk20.mo, gtk20-properties.mo or so.

Xdialog.mo has Cancel and Help but does not use it.

cancel-label "$gettext 'Cancel'" works
but there is no help-label

I have gtk20.mo and the same problem as Bert.
added gtk20-properties.mo, gtk+.mo gtk-engines.mo without success.

What else could be "or so" ? 8)

Yes, I too have gtk20.mo and gtk20-properties.mo available.

Gtk20-properties has 'cancel button', but not 'cancel' at first sight.

EDIT: changed the 'cancel-button' to 'cancel'. No effect.

So, it's Xdialog. Test line for it:

Code: Select all

Xdialog --buildlist "test" 0 0 5 abc abc off def def on
Are buttons translated? In my case - yes.
I put Xdialog.mo in two places: /usr/share/locale/ru/LC_MESSAGES/ and /usr/local/share/locale/ru/LC_MESAGES (for Slacko).

I guess you need Xdialog.mo in one (or better both) of those locations...

Very useful, thank you.

I had Xdialog.mo in default TEXTDOMAINDIR
moved it to /usr/local/share/locale/de/LC_MESSAGES/
and....
success :?:

I search a Dutch one for you
wait a moment

found Xdialog.po on the web (charset changed to UTF-8 by me):

Xdialog

Bert,

does it work after using momanager?

I mean there could be some issues because of different location of mo file.

Your job as tester will not be finished before you report success

So I've put the Xdialog.mo in the two places:

/usr/share/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES/

AND

/usr/local/share/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES/

Will Momanager see both when creating the pet?

Xdialog

#14 Post by L18L »

At first I have been trying to use symlinks....
Then with Xdialog.mo in both locations, Xdialo.pot in /usr/share/doc/nls/Xdialog/
changed all charset to UTF-8 but
-> momanager cannot merge ( red bad news )

Thus there is something to play with for me the next days.....

Alternatively, we could just add /usr/local/share/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES/xdialog.mo manually, couldn't we?

(in my case, crack open the new pet created by MoManager, add the above and dir2pet again.)

(or try to find info on L18L's hacks.sh and how to use it  )

Hi L18L,

I read your comment on Barry's blog:
While talking about momanager...
... we have found out that Xdialog uses Xdialog.mo in /usr/local/share/locale
I would like to add that this is not the case on my box. I had xdialog.mo in /usr/share/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES only and Xdialog ran translated.

Only after that did I add the .mo to /usr/local/share/locale...

I just checked, by removing the .mo from /usr/local/etc and xdialog is still running translated.

I think rodin.s gave the second location only for Slacko.

Hope this is useful

Game over

Xdialog had found its Xdialog.mo in default location before.
Recent Xdialogs must have been compiled without --prefix=/usr
thus it searches its Xdialog.mo in /usr/local/share/locale/

Having the same file in that 2 different locations is on the safe side.
Also sufficient is to have just a symlink in /usr/local/share/locale/....
Not really a hack...

Create it in command line for nl:
ln -s /usr/share/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES/Xdialog.mo /usr/share/doc/langpack-template/usr/local/share/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES/Xdialog.mo

The other issue was edit Xdialog.po in momanager

Find in /usr/sbin/momanager line which contains

Code: Select all

    LANG=${ORIGLANG} rxvt -e intltool-update --dist --gettext-package=${ATEXTDOMAIN} --output-file=${ATEXTDOMAIN}.po ${ATEXTDOMAIN}1
put a # at beginning of that line so it looks like:

Code: Select all

    #LANG=${ORIGLANG} rxvt -e intltool-update --dist --gettext-package=${ATEXTDOMAIN} --output-file=${ATEXTDOMAIN}.po ${ATEXTDOMAIN}1
and append the following line:

Code: Select all

    LANG=${ORIGLANG} rxvt -e msgmerge ${ATEXTDOMAIN}1.po ${ATEXTDOMAIN}.pot --output-file=${ATEXTDOMAIN}.po ; #130525
..and also ROX-Filer can be edited if you apply this change.

I do not want to make another momanager because I am hoping that all these changes will find their way into woof soon.

Bert,
please change the title to indicate that Xdialog is concerned.

Sorry I did not see this post before.

Yes, it is good to know that Barry has the correctly compiled Xdialog.
...and the symlink is the solution with the lowest memory usage.

All your posts are useful., thank you. 8)
