nicOS - Puplet based on Puppy 412

#1 Post by nic007 »

Needed a puppy with built-in java (mainly to run opera-mini and save massively on bandwidth) and WINE (there are some windows programs i can't do without, eg. XMPlay a music player that can use winamp DSP-Plugins and provides unsurpassed audio quality, 2nd Speech Center an excellent TTS program, etc. Additionally I wanted to strip those components and programs that I won't be using. So, I made nicOS which I now use on a daily basis. Java and wine built-in. Printing, scanning, LAN, wireless stuff and programs (serving same purpose) removed. Also removed Abiword and Gnumeric (I'm using Atlantis and Spread 32 with wine). Seamonkey with flash and Gxine intact. Connect to internet with pupdial (Cell/USB modem). Size of ISO about 125MB. I can make this puplet available for download if someone is interested.

Might you want to contribute to this thread about STT & TTS?

This is what I like to see Puplets for old machines - nice work. Just like I have been posting on the forums - Puppy 4 can live on.
