USB Install Stops on Boot Up

#1 Post by ius01 »

I recently installed puppy on my usb drive, followed all the prompts using universal installer, when rebooted it starts up on the usb begins to load hardware in puppy and then it halts saying that it couldnt find puppy on the drive,

but when i put the iso cd in it loads off the usb correctly.

This may be a stupid question but do i need to have the cd in while i boot of the usb?

If i need to use the grub installer what steps should i go through?, (assuming i dont know much about puppy)

we'll had a look at some post regarding the same problem, found a bugfix on the puppyos site regarding the 'initrd.gz' file, but maybe this forum shouldnt be called 'beginners help' if no ones willing to reply.

thanks anyway

hey, I'm having the same problem - could you tell me where you got the initrd.gz file? I thought Barry was still working on it...

Yes, thanks GuestToo, although it didn't help, as I'm still getting the same error :(
