grooveoff 0.1.8 - unofficial Grooveshark client/downloader

#1 Post by 666philb »

this is grooveoff

Image

GrooveOff is an unofficial client for grooveshark.com. With it you can search its huge database (thanks to a public api) for artists, songs and albums and save them on disk for offline playing. It provides easy to use filters by artists and albums.

website here http://qt-apps.org/content/show.php/Gro ... ent=158258

only tested on precise
Note: that the player doesn't work...(yet), but searching and downloading do :)

this requires QT http://www.smokey01.com/pemasu/pet_pack ... -4.8.2.sfs

pet here http://www.wuala.com/666philb/Documents ... 0.1.8.pet/ 421k

I won't bother thanks as it seems to be a bugger you round as much as possible site if you don't lay yourself completely open and exposed.

Like Facebook
Must have cookies on
must have pop ups on
must have images on etc etc

No thanks

Hi tytower,

Both grooveoff and groovejaar don't require a browser.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what he's saying... his opposition to the program you've created seems to be related to the fact that their website uses technologies he is against; cookies, popups, and images.

Moving along though, looks like an interesting program. I'll have to look into it and maybe build it for 64bit. Thanks for posting it, I'd never heard of it before.

btw... feel free to disregard comments from those who aren't appreciative of your efforts. lol

I grabbed the certificates from the sfs, then I downloaded grooveoff .deb from qt apps org url link. Then I installed with trial and error .debs from Debian Wheezy repo....and got it working. Works fine. Thank you for pointing to this application.

Interesting indeed. I have tried their Browser interface and that is a core.
So this program may makes it much easier to listen to their music if one get it to work.

Being as nooby as I am I don't even dare to try but much appreciate you shared it with us.
I use Google Search on Puppy Forum
not an ideal solution though

hi nooby,

you just need the grooveoff.pet, and the qt4.sfs and it works. allows searching and downloading from grooveshark without a browser

Yes I must give it a try.

I think I got it to work but fail to get how to take away the list of downloaded files?
Apart from that it does download some files
but not others but them maybe are very different.

Searching seems sensitive to spelling. One need to know exact spelling?
But that maybe is about Grooveshark itself and not related
to this program.

Much appreciated you provided it.

Hi pelo ...... the libphonon & libqjson plus all other dependencies (apart from QT) are contained inside the .pet.

i suspect that you may have tried to convert the .pet to an .sfs? in which case it wouldn't work.

i've re-uploaded a version that you are able to make into an .sfs if you wish.

Thanks!

have you also noticed that some of the result that it list
fail to download it show a jellow triangle with a i in it?
have you been able to find out what makes it do so.

Can it be foreign spelling that it refuses to save?

Maybe tomorrow and if I forget do remind me.
I tested again today and found this one that show the icon I talked about
and it did notdownload. Maybe it has to do with groobeshark as such?
