How do you activate the "windows" keys in Puppy?

#1 Post by musher0 »

Hello, all.

As the title says...
Not only pekwm, but wmx as well, probably other programs.

As Linuxians, we have a in-bred repulsion towards the use of those
keys, but still, they could be obvious candidates to activate window
manager features (menus, window management, etc.), of course, if
they're not dead in Puppy...

I know that in WheezyPup, one of the Windows keys is reserved by
xbinkeys, but freeing it / changing the xbindkeys configuration does
NOT make it available for other programs.

Many thanks in advance for any insight.

Regards.

Hello musher0

This may or may not be of any help to you,
but whenever i have installed/setup Compiz i had to do the following:

Go to: Menu > Setup > Mouse/keyboard wizard > Advanced Xorg keyboard cofiguration (click OK) > Keyboard Model (see pics)
I then changed the keyboard model to: pc104 Generic 104-key PC (105 also works)

The reason for doing this is because a lot of the default Compiz key bindings inlcude the use of the <Super> key,
which is the lefthand  Windows  key.

Thanks, CatDude.

My keyboard on this setup is down the list as the Microsoft Internet Keyboard (shame on me, but I got if for a song!)

I'll study this some more.

BFN.
