Sub_title: The cf file is often missing and Montreal is declared a GMT-8 zone

The cf file (french canadian) for the keyboard layout is often missing and the program that allows choosing a timezone is erroneous about Montreal, Quebec which is declared a GMT-8 zone (like British Columbia) when it should be GMT-5.

It would be appreciated if these could be fixed permanently in every new distribution.

Thank you

Yeah, that happened in earlier Puppies. There's a little Spanish city called Montreal on an island in the middle of the Atlantic... (no winter! you wish !) Smile Incidentally, that was not a Puppy error, but the initial upstream author did not know geography!

What Puppy are you using ?

For me, I am currently using wary 5.5.
My cf keyboard is indicated at startup of the disk (in the grub listing), as pkeys=cf, and I have no problem.

No problem either with the timezone, it is recognized correctly in wary 5.5 when you click Montreal in the timezone list the first time you specify your settings.

(Tu peux me répondre en français si tu préfères.

I am using puppy_precise_5.3.0, but it has happened on most puppy distros i used... so it's not a matter of version.

..et merci pour le lien francais!

Ok. Comment inscris-tu ton clavier canadien-français une fois DANS Puppy ?
La façon normale est :

Menu -> Settings -> Wizards -> Mouse/keyboard -> Advanced Configuration
Ensuite Modèle -> Remplacer

Quote:
"Mon frère ira au mois d'août à l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard."

Si ça marche, bravo !, t'as rien d'autre à faire.

Code:
#!/bin/sh
# /root/Startup/clavier_qc.sh
####
setxkbmap qc

I did use the "report bug" section and not the "how to", did i not?

I am reporting a missing cf file for the keyboard layout, that is the one i need. Sorry, but the rest is irrelevant.

Thanks for your advice, but in this particular case, it is not helping.

I'm sorry if my post was not helpful.

Do you not have the "qc" AND "ca" keyboard files in folder
/etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc ?
(Please see attached pic.) If not, I'll upload them here.

It would also help to know what version of Puppy you are using.

Thanks in advance.

As to the the timezone, you can either choose < GMT -5 "Bogota, Lima, New York" >, since Montréal and New York are in the same time zone, or < Canada/Eastern >. Both refer to the correct timezone for Montréal, Qc.

Regards.
