Hi,
Downloaded WARY, (made CD using BurnCDCC, used 4X speed and Read Verify and Finalize options), changed setup to boot from CD, CD is spinning but WARY doesn't open, goes to Windows XP. How do I get this to work? Am I using the proper version of Puppy?
Dell desktop model DHM, built year 2002
Optiplex GX260 Series
Intel Pentium 4 Processor: 2.53 GHz
Level 2 Cache: 512 KB intergrated
BIOS version: A03
Service tag: 3QTT321
Thanks, MakMak
Wary CD won't boot in Dell desktop mfr. in 2002
Wary not working
Hi MakMak,
From what you have described, it sounds like it should work, however I am not familiar with BurnCDCC and I am wondering if it is possible that you inadvertently copied the ISO file for Wary to the CD instead of burning it as an image file. If this were so, then your system would not detect a bootable operating system on your optical drive, and move on to finding another OS --XP in this case-- on your hard drive and boot that.
Have you tried to boot your Wary CD on another computer as a check?
It's also possible that your download was corrupt... did you run a md5sum check to verify the integrity of the ISO file?
There is a very good program for burning images in XP that I have used in the past called: ISO Recorder by Alex Feinman which you can find right here. It has always worked for me.

Re: WARY not working
I have a Dell GX150,.(Optiplex) bios A11,...and a Dell P4 GX270 (Optiplex) bios A07, that both are running Racy 5.2.2 just fine.MakMak wrote:Hi,

Dell GX150 is a PIII with 1Ghz, and 512 ram. Racy works like a charm on it. But it sounds like your CD of Wary isn't being recognized for some reason. Monsie (above post) may have the answer to that.

If burning from Windows, it is really, really hard to beat (freeware):MakMak wrote:Hi,

Using this, I have never had a "coaster" that didn't report it was a "coaster" during the verify.

I run 5.25 Retro on a fraction of that machine (PII 333MHz...)Karl Godt wrote:Puppy-4 and Racy-5 likely will run that machine , too - if you manage to create a boot able cd .
