But the files are IN /usr/include/linux, built that way with make headers install. The only way yours would work is if I put the headers in a holding area then linked them, a bit ugly (oh, I forgot, we are FULL of ugly  ).
In you build script put something like

Code: Select all

make INSTALL_HDR_PATH==$OUTPUT/usr/$KERNELVER headers_install
Then you link /usr/$KERNELVER/include/linux to /usr/include/linux
Is almost looking good

Go for it, for your targeted hardware size isn't a factor.

Vote for main.sfs

#305 Post by Karl Godt »

That is a good idea to put the headers into the main .sfs !

Otherwise it would be one devx.sfs containing both headers in /usr/include/linux-`uname -r` and the USER would need to manually symlink as needed .
Few lines in /etc/init.d/pup_kernel_headers could do such , too , but that would also add some bytes .

New Nvidia drivers

#306 Post by Jim1911 »

Hi Mick,

Installed nvidia_latest-325.45-3.4.52-4g.pet and nvidia_latest-325.45-3.10.5-PAE.pet on their respective distributions. Both worked flawlessly. :D

Cheers,
Jim

Running 5.5.81 on it's fourth day - no issues !!!
Seems to be just another killer-OS from the Amadio-dude.

LibreOffice-4.1
OpenOffice-4.0
Google_Earth-7.1

<-- sfs files

Look good to me, include mime for Puppy in the office suites. Should open most MS stuff by clicking, an exception is .pptx and .ppts

http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/pe ... -slacko14/ (US)

Plus up at mirrors
http://mirror.internode.on.net/pub/pupp ... -slacko14/ (AU)
http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/puppylinux/ (NL)

These are already in the updated sfs manager (Jades  )
OpenOffice seems pretty nice since Apache took it over. These sfs are all xz compressed and should run in any recent 32 bit puppy or derivative.

Hi Mick

Spaces once more (it turned out to be an old bug, since 5.4), when I was trying to install a .txz package from a location with space in its path.
Easy fix as well, /usr/local/bin/pupzip, line 31:

Code: Select all

 [ $? -eq 100 ] && exec petget "$PARAMIN"   # SFR: double quotes
As you can see all I can find are some ancient, minor glitches.
5.6 βeta is really great, solid piece of work!

01micko wrote:When the graphics card is working xwd (the backend for screeny) doesn't do a great job, maybe we'll upgrade to SFR's capture app based on ffmpeg.
@Oscar - you may want to try if TAS would behave better, but during tests with 16bit color depth I got similar output when taking a screenshot of a window that was partially off screen. With 24bit depth all was fine though.
Anyway, worth a try...

@Mick - for me, personally, the advantage of ffmpeg over xwd is that under Compiz xwd won't take a screenshot of a window + its decorations (clicking on titlebar produces 0B sized file), but ffmpeg has no problems with this.
_______________

@Zigbert - I just found your little Pmirror app to be very nice, but I have a questions about setting 'exception file'.
But first: here in Slacko it's version 0.6.1, so I upgraded to 0.6.2, but this one doesn't display some of messages and shows the following error:

Code: Select all

# pmirror
/usr/local/pmirror/pmirror: line 41: eval_gettext: command not found
Diff shows lack of:

Code: Select all

. gettext.sh
at the beginning of the code, so I've added it and messages are back.

Anyway, in both versions I can only select a directory as 'exception file'.
Is it supposed to be this way?
In my understanding I should be able to select a file that contains a list of files (that are in target dir) to be ignored.
Or did I miss something?

Thanks &
Greetings!

majorfoo

does it work from a terminal?

Code: Select all

# numlockx off
Works ok here, tested on a usb install, accidentally left it on when I shifted it to my eee, naturally was getting a garbled keyboard! So I flipped it to off in ~/Startup/numlockx and it worked fine.

Micko, just had a look at your latest release, very nice. I couldn't break it.

Some observations:
The exit button in PPM is bigger than the other icons
A later version of Homebank is available 4.5, pls compile with ofx support if you include.
Viewnior 1.3 is available, you have 1.1
Transmission 2.60 is installed. I use 2.73 but I just noticed 2.82 is available.

Good job.

viewnior.. no, haven't got time.
homebank .. maybe, under consideration.
transmission .. no, 2.60 is the last in the gtk2 supported series, either need to add gtk3 or qt.

EDIT: Nope, sorry, passing on homebank too, got 2 deps, wouldn't compile without more deps, haven't the time for dependency hell ATM!

Attached is Viewnior 1.3 compiled in TintedSlacko 5.5, along with the buildpet scripts I created to compile it.

Shared-mime-info is needed as a compile-time dependency.

Mick,
if you haven't already, please take a look at buildpet (based on Iguleder's work). In the long run, it will save a lot of time for compiling apps.
Sc0ttman's created a front-end gui for it, which I wish to implement in future versions.

Tman, I was already uploading when you made your post. I will consider viewnior for final.

Thanks.

Minor update of the website. Got rid of the rotating image (relied on a google api) and now have a native css/js film strip, just for a bit of sizzle. :P (lighter on resources too  )

01micko and SFR,

Slacko 5.5.91 on my machine with the often-troublesome nvidia GeForce FX5200 card.

Nouveau driver. No missing menus or graphics

Take a Shot successfully took a shot of my screen.

Live CD with just pfix=ram gives higher FPS but there are some warnings.

Subsequent boot with pfix=ram nouveau.noaccel=1 gives lower FPS but without the warnings.

Nvidia driver bumps the FPS to around 1400 straight away.
