PupKview-1.3.6

#1 Post by radky »

Purpose and Base Features
PupKview is a multi-function viewer of active (loaded) kernel modules, including standard hardware drivers. The top window of the main user interface provides a list of currently loaded kernel modules, with associated descriptions. Selecting a module with the mouse or keyboard will quickly display pertinent data in the information window, representing concatenated output of the lsmod and modinfo commands.

From the File menu you can update the list of loaded kernel modules, or export the current report to the default text editor. Setting the editor to a fixed-width/monospace font will preserve the intrinsic text format of each report.

The View menu provides a convenient way to change the size of text in the information window, and the Manager menu enables quick access to standard Puppy functions such as blacklisting kernel modules, loading inactive modules, or selecting a loading preference for one of two competing modules.

In the Logs menu you will find kernel (dmesg) and system activity logs (/var/log/messages). The Reports menu provides summary (lsmod) and complete (modinfo) views of loaded kernel modules, while the firmware report collects information about all firmware dependent modules (loaded and unloaded). Additionally, the PCI and USB menu options provide useful information about hardware devices and the corresponding kernel drivers.

System Requirements
Availability of a standard monospace font for the display of system information.

Hi koulaxizis,

Click on "PupMates" in my signature.

The first entry is a single pet which includes all nine of the current PupMates for 32-bit Puppies.

Thanks :)

Thank you Pro for the gettext localization of Pup-Kview.

Great work by the PuppyRus linux Team.

In initial testing of this preliminary gettext version, it seems the 'USB Complete' report is corrupt, secondary to incomplete (sed) escaping of special characters in the report of lsusb -t.

However, changing the method of escaping characters will fix the problem.

In the next release later this week, I will include support for your gettext localization and journalctl, plus a couple of bug fixes and updates since version 1.1.

Thanks again, :)
