Connecting with Android Easytether Lite

#23 Post by LoboGrande »

If you own an Android smart phone, Easytether Lite is very simple to use.

Download the PC drivers here:

http://www.mobile-stream.com/easytether/drivers.html Use the Ubuntu driver.

It opened with petget in Precise but Akita(Puppy 4.2 based) you'll have to convert it with the PPM. You'll need to install the libusb-1.0.9-i486_v2.pet file from the Akita repository to get it to work in Akita.

Once you've installed the driver, follow the EasyTether Lite instructions under USB settings on your Android phone to connect it to your laptop or netbook. Once connected, open a terminal and type ' easytether connect' . I use Dougal's Network setup and hit the easytether usb0 button to find the network and autodhcp to get an IP address.

It won't open certain pages like Facebook but there's an app on the phone for it anyway. You can stream Hulu and other streaming video with a 3bar plus connection on 3g but the video quality isn't quite as sharp as a dedicated Android tablet.
