How to install Puppy so it shows up in the boot options?

#1 Post by Ore1 »

Hi, I just started using Puppy, but I'm having some issues. One of my problem is with Puppy not showing up on the boot options when I start up my PC. I see my Windows XP that I can choose from, but I don't see Puppy, so the only way I can access puppy is through the install CD and through that I can acccess the saved personal files.

Could anyone help me with this problem?

This is how I installed Puppy Linux

I first downloaded Puppy Linux LTS a week or two ago.
Then I burned it into a CD as an image file
Then I went to boot options and selected the boot by CD option
And then is just installed on its own for the most part

The CD you burned, if you burned the Puppy iso to it as an image, should have made the CD into a live Puppy CD.
The Puppy operating system will boot and run from the CD.

Puppy does not install on its own.
You have to run the Puppy Universal Installer to do any installs.
The Live Puppy CD/DVD will make a save file when you shut down, if you choose to have it make one. The save file stores any changes you make while running from the Live Puppy CD/DVD.
Here is some info that will help you.
