GnuPG 2.0 - can't find a PET

I am looking for GNUPG 2.0 for Precise Puppy, however I can't find it. I found this link but it does not work on Precise Puppy even though my computer is 64 bit:

Does anyone know where I can find the GNUPG PET which will work on Precise Puppy 32 bit and 64 bit?

I know I can install it from the package manager in puppy, however I wanted to have a PET to keep on a usb drive so that I can just load the software without having to download it.

First things first, let's clear up a little confusion...

Your CPU is 64bit. Your OS is 32bit.

There are only two Puplets, AFAIK, that are 64bit -- Lighthouse64, and FatDog. All the rest are 32bit regardless of what processor is in your system.

That's why the 64bit PET (probably for FatDog) didn't work, and that's why you need a 32bit PET.

Having said that...

Personally, I consider encryption of any sort (beyond SSH/SSL over HTTP, aka HTTPS, for my online purchases or --this is quite rare-- if I choose to use a public computer and need to input real-life information to access it) as an entirely unnecessary performance-destroyer that exists solely to appease the Tin Foil Hat crowd. Better to live in the open without needing to hide things away, than to worry and fret your life away that your secrets might be discovered and get you in trouble... at least, that's my philosophy.

The only PET file I could find for GNUPG was hiding on dotpups[dot]de. It's version 1.4.7. If that's new enough --I don't know enough to say whether it is or not-- then you can find it here --> http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Encryption/

Thanks for your reply. Thanks for the explanation about the 64 bit os. As for GNUPG I already have the 1.4.7 PET I just wanted the latest 2.0 if anyone has a PET for this?

As for the comment about the tinfoil hats I could not disagree with you more. I don't know where you live but there are many people in the world who face terrible persecution just because of their religious or political beliefs. Not to mention criminals stealing information as well as good old companies like google, microsoft etc. Privacy is a huge concern and in my mind everyone should use PGP and encrypt everything.

IIRC, Precise is the Ubuntu family (which makes it the Debian family). I have had pretty good luck installing Debian .deb packages for various tools (e.g. as long as they don't have lots of bling and graphics)

You might be able to tinker with these:

Assuming that you're running a frugal install, I recommend backing up your save file before trying it (as installing such packages sometimes breaks your install).

I usually stick with the "stable" family (e.g. Squeeze or Wheezy)
