Subject description: Happens on alot of apps for Puppy431

Hello,

I've been trying to install unrar to use and ran into this problem:

unrar /lib/libc.so.6: version 'GLIBC 2.7'not found (required by unrar)

I have had this happen for a few applications, is there any fix?

Version = Puppy Linux 4.3.1

I've looked and haven't found a "glibc" with 2.7 for Puppy431. Any help?

Thank you,
Kent C.

Well do have an unrar that would work or a 7za with rar ability.

Otherwise I have a glibc2.7 made for the job ... but standard puppy won't use it as it needs to be (it will be underneath the old libraries) so you would need a find a way to add the files that won't seize up the system....does not like being added live hence my sfs.

so where next?

mike

edit...perhaps add to a non running save file if that applies to you...

Well here is a pre prepared libc2.7 I used for 4.12 ..already stripped down to match puppy...just cannot be used as an sfs as puppy layers upside down so my previous post applies.
There are pets...you may get lucky.

wow! Thank you guys! I will test and reply with full results!

EDIT:

Mike, you're funny, i dunno why but that made me laugh, this isn't Windows for sure.

I tried the .sfs file, converted it to SFS4 but still a no-go on the GUI method.

I tried the suggestion made by bigpup, and d/l the unrar4.3.1. That worked perfect. I also went the extra mile since 7zip is better, and ran that 7za using the following which also worked on 4.3.1:

chmod a+x 7za
./7za

To read the instructions to use it:
./7za | less

Thank you everyone, wish I could of got rid of that error when I tried unrar again with the sfs file. I have a working unrar for CLI which is what I was looking for.

EDIT 2: This also worked for me on Puppy 4.3.1 = Rar-3.9b2-Lucid.pet
