SIS 6326 video card coax output utility?

What works, and doesn't, for you. Be specific, and please include Puppy version.

SIS 6326 video card coax output utility?

#1 Post by sunburnt »

My Win98 install tore itself apart trying to install networking, so Puppy1 was my choice for my MediaPC.

Same problem as the other posts, Puppy1 boots on TV fine until Xvesa or Xorg & then blank screen.

Xvesa & Xorg are doing something to turn off the TV output that was working during boot.
I don't have a CRT attached, but I assume that if one were it'd be working.

The video card is a cheap SIS 6326 board... I'm really shootin' in the dark here huh?

Thanks Mark, I'll give adding the the lines to xorg.conf when I get a chance.
I'll probably need more assistance before I'm done with this...

Q: It doesn't seem like running higher than 640x400 or 640x480 for TV output is needed.
Most low end TVs only do ~ 500x400 or so res., I think in the U.S. TV is 512x512.
Is there any advantage to higher res.? It certainly takes more cpu power.

As I recall, there were issues with this chipset under 'doze, too. Fortunately, I only have one of these cards and only ever used it in bog std. setups. It was very cheap when it first appeared and, if it runs, gives an outstanding OP.
Don't waste too much effort!
