Puppys of London
This is very off topic
So listen up.
I live in London, my sister works a few minutes walk from bombed areas (everyone I know is safe)
My sisters boyfriend (a London bus driver) - was ferrying the injured to hospital by bus
My London web site is housed with the old British Library next to where the bus bomb went off
http://pages.britishlibrary.net/tooting/
What has been achieved by the bombings? Deaths, pain and fare increases.
[update: and a Brazilian shot]
One of the main reasons I am involved with Puppy is because it is pro-life, positive - a good project. It is a question of attitude. It may seem strange to relate these two areas but I believe the world is improved by good will.
The image here (meant to show the destruction of Windows)

is no longer appropriate (and probably never was)
I hope everyone is safe. If you wish to remember the dead or make a difference. Do something kind.
What will happen?
People will recognise that life is fleeting and perhaps develop more good will as a remedy to attitudes of "improving the world through mass murder"

The failed shrapnel bombs and the shooting at Stockwell are a few stops away on the underground (or tube).
It is a very disheartening situation
that a lot of good can be made of.
The British Muslim community will have to open up. People will have to learn a bit more about what their family and neighbours are up to. I am even thinking of getting a mobile phone so I can inform my family that I have been blown up by extremists (should that happen).
Really it is a question of good will. When people commit atrocities, it reflects and exposes some of our own twistings.
It may seem ridiculous to think - "what good can come of this?" but I would much rather that then be seduced by even the tiniest part of the dark side:
So just doing some kind or positive act
that too has ripples
I know where I would rather be . . .

just to keep you updated - sorry it is so off topic

. . . as even the glove puppet Yoda knows . . ."Fear is the path to the dark side.
Fear leads to anger.
Anger leads to hate.
Hate leads to suffering."

Thanks Ian,
There is an area of Islam called Sufism that is based on a more positive interpretation. Part of their teachings are transmitted through jokes.
Here is a page (that many contribute to) I started on this:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Nasrudin
Hope you find some fun and even wisdom there
