Mac-Like Desktop Icon Network File/Folder Access

#1 Post by jimwg »

Seasons Greetings!

I hope I can define this correctly. I recently saw a Mac-based home office where three computers were "Airport" linked and where each screen had a hard-drive icon of another machine which you can open and move or open files and folders and put them on your own desktop exactly as though those machines hard-drives were your own. I work with "TightVNC" and "BitVise" on my Puppy system and do both remote desktop and "secure file transfer" with it, but it's not the same easy thing as those Macs did. Is this desktop icon network file access capability available in Puppy and what must I do to get it?

Any assistance is highly appreciated!

Have a Happy!

This sounds like Samba. The simplest Samba installation for Puppy is here.
