Problem with Firefox addon named Flashgot [Solved]

#1 Post by nooby »

Need help with Firefox addon named Flashgot it takes over

I've looked and looked but fail to get ho how to stop it
to take over all downloads. I see no button to click on.

Now when I want to download a iso .file or a picture
or a youtube movie clip it kind of own my computer
and refuse to let the usual program to do their things.

Maybe one way would be to delete it and start all over?
What else could one do? Does anybody knows the inner
workings of this program?

Restore a recent copy of your pupsave made before Flashgot was installed, and it will be GONE. :D

Very good suggestion sadly I have been lazy
and not made a recent one. I will try to delete the flasgot
and then subscribe to it again and hopefully that solve it?

Yes it did but for how long I have no idea.

It does not help maybe the dev of the program
wants it to be the sole downloader. Because
it has taken over again all downloads despite
me have done nothing to set it up that way.

Any suggestion apart from not using the program?

the name of the program is Flashgot 1.5.5.95

If FF was installed via .pet, use PPM to uninstall package, and re-install an older FF pet; then let FF update.

Did you have the same problem and then tested this
or is this some logical conclusion or wild suggestion.

The problem for me is that I have the .mozilla on the HD
so I don't want to install it again

I could start a new Puppy and use that without the
latest but that is not a good solution.

My bruteforce solution is to "Remove" the Flashgot program
and install it when I need it and remove it when I done the downloading

That is a good solution :)

Nooby,
I have never used Flashgot, but I did a quick pfix=ram boot and installed it just now to take a quick look. Obviously it is an add-on / extension so looks like all you have to do is go to add-ons manager via Tools>Add-ons, click the extensions tab and from there you can open the preferences window and set it up to operate the way you want. As a last resort there is a disable button so you can disable or enable Flashgot in a couple of seconds without having to uninstall or re-install it.

nooby, never used flashgot, but I have removed and replaced FF.
It only takes a couple of minutes to do this.
That way you get a clean FF.
Export your bookmarks to HTML before doing a clean install.

I have FF on my hard disk so it is a bit more involved
with symlinks and such. I am bad at doing such . Sorry

I rather keep with the brute force method I described above.
