Gimp-painter 2.8 for Precise Raring and Slacko

Edit: There's an excellent SFS version by RSH available
I highly reccommend it.

A hacker has taken Gimp 2.7 and radically modified it with 2.8 upgrades
and more importantly it supports mypaint paint brushes.

Here's how I compiled it.

Code: Select all

./autogen.sh --disable-gtk-doc --prefix=/usr
I wasn't able to strip binary file

To use the mypaint brushes you must click the mypaint brush icon
in the tool palette. You should have the mypaint brushes showing

Select ---->

Windows > Mypaint brushes

It's reasonably stable. It will open mypaint ORA files if python is
installed. It will use G'mic plugin effects if fftw is installed as well.

Just tried it on the latest Slacko, and working well. Glad of this as MyPaint won't run on Slacko because of some Python nonsense.

Thanks

Here is a source that will work in Precise Puppy
There are older versions called gimp-painter-2.6 that might work
in your distro Akita

http://git.sourceforge.jp/view?p=gimp-p ... er-2.7.git

Code: Select all

./autogen.sh --disable-gtk-doc --prefix=/usr
If you get an error about datasharedir then you will have to define it.

Full versions of Python 2.7 gegl and babl need to be installed
