no pcmcia

#1 Post by tony_rosano »

I am getting no response form the pcmcia port. It could be the make/model of the cards i am using but i am getting several interesting results i will list the varius combonations.
for starters the motherboard used is a VIA based
7f2we1g5d-oc-pb (1.5ghz itx)
512 ram
usb puppy fash drive

so far this is the only thing i havnt seen work
the ricoh pcmcia slot that comes with motherboard
part of the problem is finding a pcmcia card (most likly a wifi card still in production)

that said this is what i have tried

the "PCI" slot worked with the following cards
3com 905b (god i love that card)
also a cisco arionet 350 wifi
this arionet worked awsome for the wifi. note that the 350 is just a pcmcia card installed in a pci=>pcmcia card(provided by cisco)

if i remove the ario 350 from the pci riser and place it in the real pcmcia (motherboard)
i get nothing nada, nope, and null.
my thoughts were perhaps that there was somehting specail about this cisco PCI=>pcmcia card

so i am left with only one other known good pcmcia card.
and Ornioco 11b/g Proxm wifi card
i get nothing. nada, nope and null still

i have also tried the same combonations on several other motherboards (smae make/model) i have about 30 motherboards on my desk (also i have multiple cicso cards and orinoco cards. so i dont think is something inherently worng withthe hardware.

any sugestions would be great
