kernel headers 3.10.32pae missing

#1 Post by mgraham »

I am trying to locate the kernel headers for slacko 5.7pae.
I found the kernel headers listed in the PPM but all the repositories come back with files not found.
I want to compile virtualbox and am stuck at missing kernel header files.

Do they still exist somewhere that I can download from?

thanks, Marc

Are the kernel headers not in the devx?
I believe they should be.
See /root/.packages/devx-only-installed-packages

EDIT:- sorry, fixed the typo, devx (not dexv).

i dont think so i have never use slacko but like in precise 5.6.1 which i use i have kernel_src-3.2.44-patched.sfs and devx_precise_5.6.1.sfs .

mgraham is looking for kernel_src-x.x.xx-patched.sfs for slacko 5.7pae.

It certainly is a good idea to load the kernel sources as well if compiling, but

I am attaching a copy of the file /root/.packages/devx-only-installed-packages
from Slacko 5.7 PAE which indicates
kernel_headers for 3.10.32 are included in packages in devx
or have I got that wrong?
Maybe Precise is different?

Use rename to remove the fake .gz extension off the end of the file name after downloading.

worked around

Installing kernel sources resolved the issue.
But the answer is apparently the kernel headers are not in devx, at least not where expected.
After installing the kernel sources I was able to install and run VirtualBox 4.3.10.
Unfortunately I need it at work for some windows apps

Thank you all for the support.
