So if we're running an older version and select update will the newer version be installed?

I've been away from Puppy for a while (too long really) and wondered what happened to QuickPet. Thanks for putting this together.

hi april,

i don't think gnuradio is suitable for quickpet, as quickpet is supposed to be for popular/useful packages.... pemasu has made a gnuradio package for upupraring though, you can find it here http://smokey01.com/pemasu/pet_packages-raring/

Note that it probably won't work on precise

Hi,

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong but I recently upgraded to Precise Puppy & installed quickpet_precise a few days ago when I saw it mentioned on here because I kind of missed lucid's quickpet. So far it seems to be quite useful & I've used it to install a couple of things (sfs's & pets), but the buttons for SuperTuxKart Portable & Warzone2100 portable don't seem to work. Clicking either runs wget for a couple of seconds then it quits & brings up a requester titled 'WareZone2100' that says:

'portable downloaded to /root/
it's a good idea to move the binary onto your harddrive
to stop it taking up space in your savefile"

but it doesn't seem to have downloaded an sfs, pet or anything else that might be relevant or useful for installing either game to root (Not that it would have had time to). I've tried updating quickpet but it doesn't seem to help. Am I doing something wrong? (I don't know if it matters but I've got precise installed on a flash drive)

Thanks for the program & I hope you can help or let me know where I'm going wrong.

Hi zx81,

thanks for pointing out those dead links, they should be fixed now if you use the update button in quickpet

cheers

Just for your info
I used a TOR browser in Precise and d/ld to a folder on my hard drive .
Under Slacko 5.6.0 the executeable works fine if you select it and link it from the saved folder to the desktop

Will you be making a Slacko version of Quickpet? Its very handy thanks.

hi april,

unfortunately i won't be making a quickpet for slacko. older versions slacko used to have a slickpet but 01micko the developer of slacko (and also the creator of the original quickpet in lucid i believe) got tired of maintaining it, as it can become a bit of a headache keeping it upto date when there are so many versions.
One reason i made a version for precise is because there are very few .. if any! official precise.pets in it's PPM.. whereas 01micko is always adding packages the slackos PPM.

the next quickpet will be for whatever puppy i move to after precise & raring .... i' hoping for a 64bit tahr by pemasu :)
