Identifying DVD capacity in puppy 5.7.1

#1 Post by eccentric »

When i use the hardware identifier it tells me i have 3g unused 1.4g used. but i have only used a small DvD which has only 1.4g capacity.

have i misunderstood the hardware identifier?
The discs are Sony DVD+RW 1.4GB.

Michael.

Depending on how you're using Puppy, the hardware identifier is probably telling you the amount of RAM. I could be wrong but I don't think it can tell you the capacity of an optical disk. For that, you need to use Pburn. I'm not sure what happens if you're using the DVD for a multisession Puppy and it fills up.

By the way, Puppy itself doesn't "see" blank media, that is, media that is not formatted with a filesystem. Pburn does.

So, was Pburn the answer to your question or what?
