Problems with Trusty, Arch I built

#1 Post by stemsee »

So I have built 'Trusty EmCE' from ubuntu trusty packages and 'Arch EmCE' from arch rolling packages, both with kernel 3.13.9-EmSee-pae. However they both boot to nox and then this:

Starting X. specs in /etc/X11/xorg.conf, startup apps /root/.xinitrc...

run xorgwizard, seemingly successfully, and then same thing.

I have uploaded the ISOs to google drive feel free to download and experiment/troubleshoot. Arch iso is 256mb trusty is 197mb. It has to be something minor which I simply haven't encountered thus far.

trusty kernel option selinux=0

and here is arch

cheers.

Trusty version:
Added libselinux (to the sfs) to get rid of the missing libselinux error (a bit obvious, that one).
Xorg still missing libxshmfence, and possibly a few others. Looks like there is something amiss with the X package you used - check its dependencies.

Hello, stemSee.

The following thought in the abstract, I haven't touched your new iso yet.
(Interesting initiative, though.) :)

Suggestions:

1) I had a similar problem once. Sounds like you have the wrong /etc/X11/X.conf file.
Maybe you've changed your graphics (video) card or your monitor and X is confused ?

2) Wrong combination of X version and kernel version ?

3) Or this incarnation of ubuntu is using the new wayland graphics driver, perhaps; and
wayland and X are not the best of friends, apparently. Also, in Puppy, the name says
"xorgwizard", not "waylandwizard"... The latter someone will have to write!

Something along those lines, anyway. Best regards and best of luck! :).

keef and Musher0 Thanks now i know wherre to look!

I have one laptop with intel core i3, built the iso on this ... !
I can't find any evidence of wayland only mir!

EDIT: Arch has wayland and trusty has mir, and both have xorg aswell!
wayland requires “-platform wayland
