Bug Summary Report
Installing software (PET) from Menu->Setup->Updates Manager is not as error-proof as from the PPM.
PPM checks and warns when your pupsave is not large enough for the target download; the Updates Manager does not.

My Setup
Frugal install, Slacko-5.7.0 PAE, Custom boot menu for multiple puppies on 4GB USB flash. Processor: Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60GHz : 1200.00MHz

My experience:
I neglected to check my pupsave space before opting to download/install Seamonkey-2.26 via Updates Manager. During the process, the big red banner about my pupsave appeared. Despite that, the download and installation seemed to complete, including the notification that it was in Network in the Menu. Only, no menu item was there. An exhaustive search confirmed that all files including the .desktop file were intact and correct. I resized the pupsave (+128M) and tried the download/install again. This time the Menu was populated.

But, I have.
Though may need refinement for different pupmodes.
