It was tricky editing the line of code, because each time I hit the backstep key it made a copied line of code with 1 character [on the end] missing.
I don't think this has something to do with the boot error but DebianDog isolinux is from Debian Squeeze (old stable) live cd. I guess new isolinux from Wheezy or SID will fix TAB edit menu ssue. I will try to upgrade isolinux files with newer for next DebianDog version.

I thought/think placing a # as the 1st character in a line got the line ignored.
Hence, no need to remove/delete it.
Am I wrong? Aught I to have deleted those lines?
Better delete # lines. Tested with mixed live.cfg.
Boot entry with # line above behaves as you described (new line after every backstep key).
Boot entry without # line does not add new line after backstep key.

Done.
SUCCESS! :D
As follows:

a. Deleted the 3 lines from my backup copy = /mnt/live/mnt/sda5/05-DebianDog/live.cfg

b. Deleted the 2nd ISO = DebianDog-Porteus-jwm_icewm-beta_custom,01-remaster,squashfs-1.iso

c. Used "ISO Master" to replace the live.cfg file in the 1st ISO = DebianDog-Porteus-jwm_icewm-beta_custom,01-remaster,squashfs.iso with the backup copy.

d. "Save as" the new ISO = DebianDog-Porteus-jwm_icewm-beta_custom,01-remaster,squashfs-1.iso
This ISO with the same name as in b. above has the altered live.cfg file included.

e. Made a new CD-RW with the new 2nd ISO, and booted it.
All 3 of the boot choices work.

f. Having booted the 2nd boot choice = "Porteus RAM save"...
I then rebooted, and as it shut down it gave me 30sec to choose "to save or not to save".
GREAT RESULT! :D
Typing this from it.

1. Working with your latest [DebianDog-Porteus-jwm_icewm-beta.iso of 2014 May 15th].

2. Booted "Porteus RAM save", using copy of the save file from the previous version held in the root folder of sda5.
Is this OK?
Seems OK.

3. All is generally OK [except my keyboard is misbehaving again; do I need to fix this again?], BUT...

4. I used your commands given HERE...

Code: Select all

apt-get update
apt-get install wine
Both the update and the install seemed to go OK, except...

5. When I run the winefile command I get:

Code: Select all

root@debian:~# winefile
bash: winefile: command not found
root@debian:~#
6. I intend to repeat the previous steps to run the new CD just like the previous CD.

Hi, Sylvander.
Sylvander wrote:2. Booted "Porteus RAM save", using copy of the save file from the previous version held in the root folder of sda5.

No, it is not OK and you have dpkg database broken in this case, because /var/lib/dpkg files from your save file overlay the /var/lib/dpkg files from the iso image. This why you have wine config file problem. Use updated DebianDog iso only with new empty save file.
3. All is generally OK [except my keyboard is misbehaving again; do I need to fix this again?], BUT...
Yes, all settings like keyboard configuration you have to make again.
5. When I run the winefile command I get:

Code: Select all

root@debian:~# winefile
bash: winefile: command not found
root@debian:~#
Because of the save file from previous version. Here is wine install and winefile output with empty save file:

Uploaded new OpenBox/XFCE iso.

Two changes only from the previous iso:
1. Mplayer2 replaced with mplayer again. Seems this compiled mplayer2 does not work on some old hardware.
2. Small desktop configuration change. Wallpaper (for user account only) was not showing on some old machines.

Edit: Reported once as not working and removed from the official site. Still available for testing from backup site here.

Testing GoogleEarth - 7.0.3 sfs module uploaded...

Load with right clik SFS-load option, exit X and startx again (or place it inside /live boot folder and reboot). Start it from terminal typing googleearth or from Internet -> Google Earth
I'm not sure all works as it should so any test report or fix if it is needed is welcome.

Yes, everything uploaded on the site as separate modules, deb packages or sfs (squashfs) files should work without problems.

Just for information all uploaded separate Debian kerenel module archives (including SMP kernels) are universal and you can load Puppy main sfs module or other linux live system. Rename for example lupu_528.sfs to 01-lupu_528.squashfs (or any name), move it inside/live and remove 01-filesystem.squashfs. Boot with the same boot code you use for DebianDog and you have the same save file options from DebianDog but running Puppy. If you link /initrd/pup_rw to /live/cow even RemasterCow from DebianDog should work after installing yad.

In a few days we will upload both iso with options to create encrypted save file and save partition. I can give you information what changes to make to the existing iso for encrypted save but it is better to wait few days for the final version and encrypted save working on boot.
