I thought about doing that, but I can't be sure that the alternate viewers that Puppy might have would necessarily show animated GIFs.

Actually, I tested gifview again and it is working with transparency. It's just that the background that shows through the transparency is black!

Something I saw Smokey01 do with the MultiBooter PET utility that will make this PET, possibly, more intuitive. Ths is an idea for consideration: They arranged the buttons in a verticle fashion. Thus it is organized in the path of steps that they want users to follow to use the utility. I think the benefit is obvious. Of course, on screen steps could also accomplish the same objective.

Only other idea that comes to mind is mouse-over example for couple of your fields (like "Other options" for example). The mouse-over for Time-interval could reflect:
  • 50=half second
  • 100=1 second
  • 200=2 seconds
etc for any other areas you feel mouse-over would contribute to usefulness.

ALSO, I have again tested "convert2gif folder" with JPEGs conversion with the 1.4 version. Works.

Anyway, as it stands currently, it is truly a functional utility for community need.

Hope this is what you might have been looking for.

This reflect the path to bug. It not that MAAG is not acting; rather,if "imperfect" user (who isnt?) is pointing to wrong folder/folder without GIFs, he is loss. Some message with action might alert users to review picture's folder.

As a quick-and-dirty GUI design tool, gtkdialog does not easily lend itself to laying out buttons vertically.
Of course, on screen steps could also accomplish the same objective.
That's why there is a Help button.

Some people love mouse-overs. But they double the amount of work that translators must do.

Thanks for that.

Noticed that V1.5 is posted. Installed it without uninstalling V1.4. Next:
  1. Open MAAG
  2. Filled in Time Interval & Other options
  3. Clicked New
  4. Got a momentary popup-message; "New Project Started"
  5. Selected folder with GIFs
  6. Clicked Add
  7. Folder field was emptied but no messages of creation of output
  8. Clicked Make
  9. Got a popup-message; "No files added yet!"
Bug???

Edited: The problem exposes when the folder does NOT have any GIFs. The resulting MAAG application action and message does not reflect why this occurs.

@Rcrsn51 has indicated why this occurs, here

I misquoted the name. It is "MultiPUP" and found here

I understand what you share. Again, its only a consideration being offered.

[*]Selected folder with GIFs
How did you select it?
[*]Folder field was emptied but no messages of creation of output
[*]Clicked Make
[*]Got a popup-message; "No files added yet!"
I believe that could only happen if none of the files in the folder were valid GIFs. Right-click on the files and check their properties.

[Edit] I can't fix a reported bug if I can't replicate it, and I can't do that without more information. So I am declaring v1.5 as Final and moving on.

The quality of my GIFs are decreased after conversion. For example,I take screenshots which are saved in PNG/JPG. Then I run a convert2gif utility on the file(s). The resulting quality of the GIF is reduced.

Any suggestions on converting to gain equivalent quality? ... Or steps to improving a GIF quality?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

It took me 30 seconds of googling to find this. Have you tried any other conversion tools? There are some obvious choices.

Hello rcrsn :D

Here is the Spanish translation for MAAG.

I tested and it's easy to use, thank you!

I'm a bit lazy with commands and that, in fact I hate them  so to convert my folder of png files to gif files I used this program, just in case anyone is looking for something similar:

Thanks. It's good to see that the Spanish translation fits well on the screen.

This tool works great. I have made several images and even put one on my website for slacko http://01micko.com/slacko57/download.html

One tiny request. Now that this has been tested by a few people, can you change the path so that it is outside of root please? (ie: /usr/bin, /usr/local/bin or whatever).

TIA.

Thanks.

The one attached I made into a sprite and (static image top, animated bottom) with some css made it animate on hover. On the above slacko page. It's 25 gifs, just fyi.
