boot up stalling at video wizard

#1 Post by random »

:?
So I'm new to linux still....been at it for a month or so and had puppy running from cd on my laptop.... no problem but couldn't get wireless working properly....but now I've got an older toshiba satellite to play with and set up as a purely linux system.... P4 256MB Ram. 16MB graphics...
problem is that the same live cd i've used wont get past the video wizard.
with Xvesa it stalls at "starting X with video mode 0x011 and mouse psaux..." and with Xorg it stalls at a black screen with an empty command line....
help....
what do i do next????????????

:) Welcome to the kennels
Kenneth Hensley is developing this excellent guide
http://www.greenvilleroad.com/PuppyGuide-1.html

also use these flash tutorials from Rhino
http://rhinoweb.us/

and . . . come to Puppy Love Day
http://tmxxine.com/Wikka/wikka.php?wakka=PuppyLove

. . . and try the Dummys guide
http://tmxxine.com/Wikka/wikka.php?wakka=PuppyLinux

That should keep you happy for a while . . .
