dmMediaConverter is a crossplatform FFmpeg frontend (GUI) exposing some of its features. It is intended to be simple and easy to use but also to be able to achieve complex tasks. I have inspired myself from a lot of media converters like Handbrake, WinFF and MkvMergeGui. One feature was lacking from most of them, video stream copy (pass-through), that made me build this.

versions that use external ffmpeg

#2 Post by mcewanw »

Thanks for that robwoj44. I have been preparing a special deb package version for DebianDog with a much smaller download/install size since it relies on external ffmpeg rather than the specially compiled ffmpeg components that was packaged with the original:

I plan to produce a dotpet of that soon for Puppy after further testing (now done with dotpet download also now available from above link; works in Puppy Slacko 6beta, but not in default Puppy Precise 5.7.1 installation because Precise, instead of using ffprobe, uses avprobe which doesn't understand ffprobe option -print_format). Of course, you dotpet, which includes its own ffmpeg and ffprobe should work fine in Puppy Precise 5.7.1 and others. I'm just trying to create smaller versions to keep my Puppy installs light weight. As the program's author says, it is a portable app meaning it can be run from its own directory with its own ffmpeg.

Rgds,

William

Tested in Precise 5.6.

Successfully converted a .mp3 to .wav.

Did not install it. Just extracted it and executed it from its extraction directory.
