This PC can boot Lubuntu, Precise 5.7.1, Lucid 5.2.8 and Lxpup. Sound is via the mobo's AC97 Realtek, through headphones. Apart from Precise, sound works fine with the other distros. There is no sound in Precise, even though the volume is turned right up. I tried the Wizards but they made no difference.
Any help would be appreciated.
UPDATE. It turned out to be a problem in retrovol. I did a pfix=ram and the sound worked fine. I made a note of the ticks and unticks in retrovol and rebooted. Using the retrovol proforma from the working sound system seems to have brought the sound back. I'll mark this as "Solved"
