Sometimes it will appear on the desktop, it will not respond to keyboard input, only to turn it off.

What is it?

I've never seen it before. Which Puppy version and what were you doing just before the window appeared?

It is the password entry dialog for xlock. Why it is appearing automatically is beyond me.

I think the first post is from the Lock Screen Icon located on the desktop of some Puppy Distros. I haven't used it but I hit it by accident a few times.

Forgive my poor english.

When this little window appear, you still can do any other things on screen,
but this little window,it won't response to your keyboard input.
You can only use mouse to close it .

Maybe you are clicking on the "lock" icon in the top right corner by accident.
If you type a password of your choice, for example "unlock"
The letters will not show
Then press the return or enter key
The little box will ask you to type the word "unlock" again to confirm the password you have chosen.
Press the return or enter key again and the screen will be locked.
Use the password to unlock the screen.

If you don't want to use it you can just close it, no problem.
