It's pretty old news now, but I haven't seen it mentioned here: audacious has ported back from GTK3 to GTK2 for the time being (long term they are moving to QT, and all three toolkits can currently be used).

I never used it, but the move is a good one. GTK3 is very buggy and unstable.

Our Linux and Music expert Medor created a pet gtk2 for audacious... and his Slaxen 6.0. Should run at least on Puppy Slacko

A 64 bits 3.7.2 version is available PPM of my Slacko 6.9.6.4
Next step : complete wit missing stuff. Songs mp3 are played without.
