slacko-6.0 beta 2
savefolder using symbolic links for slacko 5.9.3
@rg66
Try downloading http://www.fishprogs.info/puppy/slacko6/initrd.gz and http://www.fishprogs.info/puppy/slacko6 ... _5.9.3.sfs.
Move them into a directory containing a frugal install of slacko 5.9.3.
Note: The ydrv contains a newer version of the 'sfs_load' executable. The 'sfs_load' in the release version of slacko 5.9.3 is a little over enthusiastic in removing '.wh' files. But I recommend that the latest version of shinobar's 'sfs_load' be installed.

Re: savefolder using symbolic links for slacko 5.9.3
After a few quick tests with savefile and folder, that seems to have sorted it for thunar and spacefm. I'm assuming the ydrive needs to be loaded in conjunction with the init changes.gyro wrote:@rg66

Spacefm is getting weird entries that don't show up in slacko-5.7.0, network block device apparently. See screen shot.

Yes, the ydrv is effectively "patching" the puppy sfs, by replacing a number of files.rg66 wrote:I'm assuming the ydrive needs to be loaded in conjunction with the init changes.
I can't see any way the latest issues with spacefm, could be related to savefolder, but a savefile/savefolder comparison would be needed to clarify this, if you suspect that it is.

Re: savefolder using symbolic links for slacko 5.9.3
I don't think it has anything to do with a savefolder since it does it with a savefile and in RAM as well.gyro wrote:I can't see any way the latest issues with spacefm, could be related to savefolder, but a savefile/savefolder comparison would be needed to clarify this, if you suspect that it is.

Not sure if relevant but do the issues persist after a second reboot?rg66 wrote:I don't think it has anything to do with a savefolder since it does it with a savefile and in RAM as well.gyro wrote:I can't see any way the latest issues with spacefm, could be related to savefolder, but a savefile/savefolder comparison would be needed to clarify this, if you suspect that it is.

In my case, first reboot over an existing savefolder/file (standard slacko 5.9.3) had issues from starting X to shutting down and evrything in bettween. But on the second reboot after relayering the filesystem, everything was fine.

Re: savefolder using symbolic links for slacko 5.9.3
Doesn't seem to matter what I try. RAM, reboots, savedir, savefile etc... Tried from USB flash and on a different comp, same thing. Incidentally, Tahrpup does it as well, for me anyway.mavrothal wrote:Not sure if relevant but do the issues persist after a second reboot?

I think I figured it out to a certain extent. There is something fishy about the way Slacko 5.9.3 loads, or better: does not load, SCSI drivers.01micko wrote:As for the scanner issue , do you know what kernel driver is used? Is there any command line output?
My test scenario:
- Scanner plugged and powered

There's an issue where not all of the kernel modules are loading properly - I have the same problem with printing from a parallel port printer and have to manually modprobe lp and ppdev. It's been known about for a while but I'm not sure if there's a solution yet.MochiMoppel wrote:For now I found a way to use my USB scanner in Slacko 5.9.3, but it's a bit troublesome. This version of Slacko has most modules in a zdrive (a separate SFS file), an approach which had caused major problems before in some versions of Luci and was dropped before the relevant Lupu was released. That was a few years back and I can't remember the specifics now.

Have you tried appending the command to '/etc/rc.d/rc.local'?MochiMoppel wrote:For now I found a way to use my USB scanner in Slacko 5.9.3, but it's a bit troublesome. I have to runCode: Select all

Ok I compiled the latest/last version Of Gnome-paint, and what a shame that they've given up and a abandoned this project, I hope someone forks it in the future. Its basically almost what I've been looking for, A few features haven't been implemented as of yet. But the layout is great, the sizes is awesome.
Ok what doesn't work, fonts, fuzzy/free select, and zoom, what does it need to be a perfect puppy paint program?
layers, and a couple of small effects, like shadows, colour balance, crop, resize etc.

Here's a small card game,
ttuuxxxFun GTK card game Belote is a popular 32-card trick-taking game played in France. It derived around 1920, probably via Clobyosh, from Klaverjassen, a game played since at least the 1600s in the Netherlands. Closely related games are played throughout the world.

Works great, nice to see a GTK card game that doesn't use large gnome deps, the cards are xpm files, so it wouldn't be hard to make another card set for them off larger gnome card game images. I might do it later on depending on/if people like it.Volhout wrote:Hi Ttuuxxx,
Thanks for providing the card game. I'll check it tonight, since we play a lot of "klaverjassen" with friends. Never knew there was a similar game. There are many card games, but they centre around bridge, poker, and solitaire.
btw...Yes, I am Dutch....
I played like ten games before packaging it up, Its pretty hard to win, but still fun to play.

I remember playing a game on my first computer called Klabiash, which was available for Windows 3.x and worked very well. This one looks very similar.Volhout wrote:Hi Ttuuxxx,

Many tnanks, 01micko and others; works fine on my newest computer, the Dell Latitude E6410.
I'm not an expert, just a small-time user.
Have mostly used Lucid Puppy, but used others more-or-less for years.
So far have added claws-mail 3.80, Opera 12.16, putty 9.62, FBReader 0.99, and flashplayer
