For a replacement for microsoft office

libreoffice

Get it from the Puppy package manager
or look in the forum-- Documents section of Additional Software.

Browser Iron comes with a download manager.
What do you need that Iron does not do?

To give you a choice on an anti-virus program, you can also use AVG Free.
That is what I use on my Windows machines. But there is a free version for linux and you can find it here.

I wouldn't worry too much about antivirus on Puppy....It's not anywhere near as vulnerable as windoze.

There are linux equivalents for most windoze software, which generally run better anyway, as puppy uses less of your hardware's resources

more than 256mb memory is usually enough, but more is better...depends what you want to do...

I only ever use the Avast! on-demand scanner to scan the contents of partitions used by Windows.

Now get avast4workstation-1.0.8.pet at...
http://www.ibm-pc.org/puppy/avast4workstation-1.0.8.pet
md5sum = 46c21dc2fad103a70697ba6dc2015fbb avast4workstation-1.0.8.pet
This is an on-demand virus scanner that works in Puppy Linux.
I like the way this works.

Register here for your FREE Avast 1-year license.

To eliminate the problem that happens when you attempt to update the Avast database [failure to update].
Add the following line of code = /sbin/sysctl -w kernel/shmmax=130000000
...To the file = /etc/rc.d/rc.local
